I am posting this for a friend that bought a cute buckskin pony mare at a local auction last weekend. The pony arrived today and her new mom is thinking of giving her a new name. She is 14.2 hands, 5yrs old, buckskin with very pretty face, looks like she's got black eyeliner. She was very relaxed her first day here today. Nothing surprised her. The owner is an adult.

We were thinking of a name relating to makeup or beauty because of her "eyeliner".
I like Maybelline (show name - Maybe It's Maybelline.)
Or Loreal with the show name ??
Or Marilyn (Monroe)

Her are some pics for inspiration:

Maybelline was my first thought before I scrolled down and saw it was already on the list. Very cute with or without the eyeliner.

I know if she ends up Maybelline, I'll wind up calling her Maybe. Which may be fitting too....since we're still trying to figure out what could possibly be wrong with her since it seems like nothing is.
She's been sooo calm but alert and happy. She was smooth as silk to ride when we test rode her at the sale.

OH MY GOODNESS she is so cute! what a find, I love buckskins. What are you going to do with her?

* I like Maybelline

* I saw a buckskin pony years ago on the "A" circuit with a adorable name it was "Butter My Buns and Call Me Biscuit", might be a little longer then what you are looking for but it's so cute!

Maybe I will think of more later. I met you the other day I think, I have Wolf Summit Farms, off 43 south. Well good luck with her she is adorable!

Savoy8 - Yes, I met you at the Ag Center. Sebegeld was with me that day. This is her pony.
Right now her plans are to just have fun. ;)
I'm trying to convince her to come to the open shows in Williamston.

Norma Jeane (Marilyn's real name... she was born with the last name Mortenson, but babtised Baker) - Candle in the Wind (Elton John song about Marilyn) - Continental, or A Kiss on the Cheek (as in "a kiss on the cheek can be quite continental, but diamonds are a girls best friend")

Marilyn Monroe's make-up artist was Whitney Snyder... She begun her modeling career with The Blue Book modeling agency... Love Happy was one of her early films that really got her noticed and kicked her career into gear... some of her movies (that have names that might be decent show names) Don't Bother to Knock, Monkey Business, Niagara, Bus Stop.

Hello Savoy8 and JSWiley,

YES!! The buckskin is mine. She is smooth ...NOT a walker, but smooth, JS. And Savoy, come see us. I am Don's friend. Have you started your run-in yet? Don lost his OTTB yesterday. Twisted gut is what he figures..she went really fasr. He is very sad.

"Tammie Faye"! LOL! Just kidding, of course!

She is cute as a button...I'm partial to "Maybe It's Maybelline" and "Belle" for a barn name. Or how about "Little Miss Make-up"? Wasn't there a kid's doll named that..you could call her Missy for short.

Have you ridden her since you got her? I hope she wasn't but she could have been drugged at the sale.

Lora - Haven't ridden her here yet, but she was at a school auction and we know someone that works there. She knows the mare and says she is like that normally. She's a little green, being only 5, so hopefully that's the only true reason she is not useful to them.

you could call her May- or Bell or Mabel for Mabelline. Love the pics. Good luck with her- I like Norma Jean too for a barn name. What a cutie.

I like Maybelline (makes me think of the Chu Berry song)

"As I was motivating over the hill,
I saw Maybelline in a Coupe de Ville.
Cadillac rolling on open road,
nothing outrun my V8 Ford.
Cadillac doing about 95,
we were bumper-to-bumper, we were side-to-side..."
Chorus:
"Maybelline! Why can't you be true?
Oh, Maybelline, why can't you be true?
You done started back doing those things you used to do!"

But, I digress

Or how about:
-CoverGirl
-Malibu Barbie
-Rhula Lenska ("Don't hate me because I'm beautiful...")

My friend's old pony was named Maybeline(Maybe It's Maybeline)! When she showed her, sometimes the announcers would say it how they do in the tv commercials! I like the name though; I think it would be cute for your pony too.

I agree with Maybelline, and May or maybe Belle for barn name. If you get tired of her, add me to the list of folks willing to take her off your hands. What A DOLL! (that could be a good show name too -- barn name, Dolly) :)

I like Maybelline or Maybe it's Maybelline

I just love your pony's "eyeliner."

Vanilla Ice is nice too. We once had a cream unregistered gaited pony mare we called 'Nilla Wafer.

She wasn't a buckskin because she didn't have black points, mane and tail. She did have a white blaze and flaxen mane and tail, but no eyeliner either.

When I was a kid I knew a super cute lil appy pony (though she was solid white) named Maybelle. She was the cutest thing ever!

If you go with Maybeline or Maybe It's Maybeline for names/show names you can call her Maybelle around the farm - which of course leads itself to all sorts of other fun nicknames which is sometimes the best part!

You could do "all dolled up" because she is dolled up with her eyeliner keeps in with the 50's theme

I like the Maybeline theme, too.

I just caught a documentary on PBS called The Powder and the Glory, about how Elizabeth Arden and Helena Rubenstein built their empires. It's based on the book War Paint.

I've always loved the name Arden....

The Powder and the Glory would be a cute show name.

Tell Don I am very sorry about his TB! No we haven't started the run-in's yet, we are still putting in more fencing, but we are getting there, slowly but surely!
