My white dress shirt finally bit the dust which is ok with me as I hate it. Can I wear my velcro stock tie with just a white t-shirt? I just tried it and it looks fine. Will anyone know or care? There's nothing in the rules about what you have to wear under your coat is there? Just being paranoid. It would be like me to get checked and E'd for something stupid like that.

I have on occasion worn a tank top under my stock tie and coat. I know people who just wear t shirts. As long as you are neat and tidy on the outside, it doesn't matter what's underneath.

Excellent! I've certainly done it before but if I'm going to always wear a t-shirt I thought I better check.

I pretty much always wear a polypro t-shirt, with one of those bib-type stock ties on top. You can't tell the difference once the coat is on.

Same. Just wait until you're out of the Dressage Judge's sight before ripping your coat off. ;)

unless Bit Check decides to undress you... I don't think that anyone would notice!

Just make sure you have an appropriate shirt available if coats are waved!

What subk said. If coats are waived (and it is hot and you would really rather ride without your coat) you need to have a shirt with a collar and sleeves (but a polo shirt is fine) and no neckwear.

Yup, sounds good.

I bought a few white mock T necks in short and long sleeves for $10 each from Lands End. They wont let you down if your stock slips and are appropriate if jackets are waived.

I used to show with a VERY nice (and very fit!) lady that rode in a sports-bra with her "bib" stock tie under her coat. She was doing Intermediate/Advanced and always rode dressage like that, even at 3-Days. No one was the wiser except those of us stabled near her.

Hijack alert! I feel a spinoff coming about how to get those sweaty, rained-on dark jackets clean...especially if we're adding deoderant stains to the underarms! :D

Dear Ann Soft Landings,

I am sorry but the dry cleaners can never seem to do laundering justice to my wadded-up, stinky, sometimes damp black wool jacket after I wear it in riding competition. And they look at me like I have two heads when I tell them, "I sweat in this!" Help!

Signed,
