I would love to quilafiy in 2010..although its prolly un realistic, I really want to try for it, but I have a few questions.
1.) do you have to get your qualifying scores all in one area? Like I am area 3, can I only compete in area 3 to qualify or can I go up to KY an compete too?

2.) At the BN level is it super hard to qualify? If I work my butt off I should be ready by Oct. to put up some stiff competition, right? I have a trainer, but can't ride with her every week as I would like to. But I read and study up on riding a lot plus I ride several different horses every day... I should be ready...

BN is easy to qualify at. I qualified last year and I didn't place above 4th at BN.

Here's what you need to qualify at BN.

American Eventing Championship Beginner Novice Level - This level will include a total of three divisions to be offered in the categories of AM (CH), JR (CH), and Horse (CH).

3.1 Horses and riders, not necessarily as a combination, during the period from July 31, 2007 to August 18, 2008 will qualify to compete in this division when they have met the following criteria:

Two first through fifth placings in any USEA recognized Beginner Novice Horse Trials
OR:1st through fifth placing in any USEA Beginner Novice Area Championship
Riders in any Beginner Novice division may not have completed competitions (obtained a final numerical score) at the Training level or higher during the 24 months prior to the start of the competition. For the Horse (CH) division, horses may have completed competitions at the Novice level during the qualifying period, but may not have completed competitions at the Training level or higher at any time.

You can get all the details to enter the AECs here:
http://www.aecatlamplight.org/Competitors/entryinfo.htm

and LR's correct it looks like the dates for 2009 have not been updated on the website - "The qualification period shall be July 31, 2007 to August 18, 2008."

Even if you're not riding, you can have a great time volunteering at the AECs plus you get to meet a lot of fellow forum members.

I would love to volunteer, but being a college student I can't justify leaving school for a week to volunteer at something. If it weren't during school and too far away the I would love too, but partially because after volunteering comes shopping!

when is Gobi next blogging?

He's working on it. He's become a political junkie since Obama's election, and I can hardly pry him away from MSNBC. I suspect he's still angling to be the White House dog.

Oh Lord, I can see the President fighting for his chair in the Oval office. Just keep Gobi away from the red button. We don't need nukes flying for lack of cookies.
