How do you feed it? I tried grinding it in a coffee grinder but then couldn't get the grinder to open 'cause the powder got stuck everywhere :( So then I threw the pills in with the canola oil I feed and mixed it with the feed. No luck with eating that. Should I coat with molasses? Help!

Generally, they're well tolerated whole. If your horse just won't do that, they break down very quickly in hot water.

Hot water in those big wormer type syringes. Put the pills in - fill 1/2 with hot water, shake - wait a bit and I used to just squirt it in my gelding's mouth like worm paste. We did it for weeks 3x per day - eventually he got used to it.

I've fed it with rice bran and that worked well. You can also try some applesauce - sometimes the sweetness will help counter the bitterness.

I didn't have a problem with my horse eating them even though they taste absolutely horrible. He's not "normal" that way...thankfully. I accidentally got some of the Ranitidine dust into my mouth and it made me nauseous for hours. It's horrible. Anyway, I just wanted to break them up into a powder. I put them in a ziploc baggie and laid it out flat on a piece of wood and hit with a hammer until they were pulverized. Voila!
If you want to tube him then just dissolve in water. They dissolve easily.

We wet our feed down, so we just drop the whole pills in the feed bucket and they disolve.

I ground mine in a feed bucket with the base end of a hoofpick (hey whatever works) and mixed w/maple syrup and grain.

I just throw them in with the other feed and supplements, add some water, and down they go!

Get a pill crusher like this:
http://www.smartpakequine.com/ProductClass.aspx?productclassid=1078&cmPreserveSource=true&cmPreserveCategory=true
a small mixing cup and plastic spoon, and a catheter tip syringe:
http://www.kvvet.com/KVVet/productr.asp?pf%5Fid=80031&gift=False&0=product%5Ffamily%2Easp%2Cfamily%5Fid%3D347%26Tre e%3D%2CCatheter%20Tip%20Syringes&HSLB=False&mscssid=03ED3773624F647ECBAD8BD87B5CDD5C
crush the pills, put into the mixing cup, add a heaping tablespoon of jello mix (my horse loved raspberry the best), add just enough hot water to make it loose, stir, and then pour it into the syringe (keep your finger on the open end), then insert the plunger and dose away!
I did that for the two years that my horse was on the ranitidine, and he would actually follow me right into the barn when I had the syringe in hand, and open his mouth for me. It was amazing because even with the jello mix, it tasted pretty nasty to me (accidentally got a tiny drop on my tongue one day).
If you are not the one to be able to dose the horse every day, you can try Medi-Yums, and pre-make them for the barn staff to feed. My horses love these too, but they are a big messy and sticky to work with:

Hope this helps!
Oh, if your horse likes peppermints, an easier way is to get the soft red and white peppermint balls, crush them up (don't use the pill crusher, too sticky), add the crushed up pills and hot water and just pour it on the feed.

I feed a soaked mix of beep/barley/bran so I just toss the pills in with the soaking water and they more or less dissolve. You might consider just making up some beet pulp for that purpose.

My QH gets 12 300mg pills 3x a day. Yup-every 8 hrs (well, some are more or less). Doing the best I can for at least 3-4 weeks. He is on this for 8 weeks.
I got my pills from Allivet.com

My mare gets 14 of the 150mg pills once a day. This dosage seems to work the best for her, I can certainly tell when she is off of the ranitidine! I get them at Costco, $8 for a package of 180 pills, so it ends up costing me about $20 a month.

Ranitidine is supposed to be dosed at 3 mg/lb of body weight. If your horse weighs 1000 lbs. you should give 3000 mg per dose. If you are using 300 mg tabs that is 10 tabs every 8 hours or if you are using 150 mg tabs that is 20 tabs every 8 hours. I usually give one tab more assuming my horse with drop some, some of the powder will stick to the bucket and not be eaten or if tubed directly the horse will probably drop some out of the mouth.
I got it from my vet a couple of years ago when I needed it fast so I can't help you on suppliers.

I used to order it from SmartPak, with vets Rx, then the cost at my vet's office came way down, cheaper than Smartpak (and cheaper than Sam's Club or Wal-Mart) so I purchased it directly from the vet.
And my horse was getting 3000 mg twice a day.
