I need a set, all around, for my new youngster for lunging and breaking. What are my best options in the $30-50 range?

Thanks!

"Boots" like hoof boots (like boa boots or easy boots) or "boots" like leg protection (hampa boots or eskadrons)?

If you're talking about leg boots within that price range I like Woof boots and would go with those.

I don't mind SMB's either but they seem to get much hotter underneath them then the Woofs.

For cheap boots I like the Dover Sport boots- I use them for turn out regularly.

I do mean leg boots, aka brushing boots, splint boots, and $30-50 for each set although I love the idea of being able to get all four for that amount!!:D

I've never used the woof's but I was considering them. Are the very basic the one's i want or the double lock?

Another vote here for the basic Woof sport boots (retails around $32 per pair). Mine have held up for nearly two years now--they are no longer in show condition but still totally serviceable and I'm sure I'll get a few more years out of them yet.

The velcro is STRONG and you do not need double lock. I own a pair of Nunn Finer double lock boots and IMO the double lock is an unnecessary pain in the butt. If anything, the double locks can prevent you from being able to get the boot tight enough--not that I crank my boots in tight (usually only secure them tight enough to stay on), but if you look at the double lock's construction, you'll see immediately how if the long piece of velcro needs to be cranked in a touch, the shorter piece of velcro gets in its way.

I personally do not like the double lock. I just have the basic ones that are around $32.00 a pair.

I also second or third the notion that the double velcro is just a big PITA. Be aware of the Dover boots if you go that route- the ones that are just neoprene/rubber lined are very stiff, and rub if left on for turnout. Get the fuzzy ones instead, or just get Woofs and save yourself some worry.

My Woofs are easier to clean and stay cleaner than my fuzzy Dover sport boots. I'd take my Woofs over them any day. They dry faster too.

go with the woof boots, they hold up well fit well and protect well.

i started using woof boots and have converted most of the barn to them. hehe

I noticed there seem to be two versions of the single lock Woofs, one labeled "all purpose" for around $30 and one labeled "single lock brushing boots" for around $60. Does anyone know the difference?

The all purpose woof is their lower end boots. It is still an excellent boot, just not quite as sturdy as the more expensive ones. If you can get your hands on them you can see and feel the difference. I use my all purpose woofs for jumping, lunging, and flat and they have held up wonderfully.
