Color Enhancing Shampoos

In your experience, do color enhancing shampoos really work? Which brand do you recommend?

Personally, I like QuicSilver for greys, but that's about all I use other than Orvus.

The Rio Vista HiHo Silver made my gruella paint look awesome. Blindingly shiny.

The "blueing" shampoos for white horses work great. But I've never gotten great results for the ones for chestnuts/bays/blacks. Anyone find it makes a big difference?
I generally wash with Ivory dishsoap and then if I have a grey or a white sock, I will wash it again with Quik Silver.

I absolutely love Quic Silver. It makes greys gorgeous and chrome on dark horses stand out. I want to try the Quic Black shampoo on my bay and I'll report back to you. ;)

Bluing works great for white/gray. The other stuff, eh... marginal effect.

I've used the Rio Vista chestnut shampoo on my red mare. Couldn't really tell much difference, and watch out with white socks (they turn pink). Maybe it would make more of a difference on a sunbleached horse?

I've had marginal results with Rio Vista's Ravishing Red and no results with the golden palamino and chestnut shampoos. The shampoos for whites and grays seem to be the only things that really work.

Those of us with greys might as well get the best end of the shampooing stick, since we get beat like none other with the DIRT stick! And oh!!! to have a horse that *shines* again...!!!

Well, they work well enough for me to buy them...quic silver or quic color. It says the effect intensifies with each use and it seems to be true, more noticeable difference after 2-3 baths. The results with quic color weren't as stunning for darker coats, haven't tried the quic black.

i love quic silver for my pinto pony who is mostly white, but i almost bought a little bottle of quic black last year when i was leasing 2 black ponies. i inquired on coth, actually, asking if it really works, and i was told to avoid it, it doesnt work, and it makes their coats dull-looking. *shrug* i'll just stick with my quicsilver, i dont need any black-color shampoos.

though i am wondering about which color shampoos are good for chestnut--would love to intensify my pony's chestnut spots.

I have yet to find a shampoo that really works on my black-ish TWH. Most of the "color-enhancing" shampoos do a great job of making my fingers turn purple, but not much change in the horse's color.:lol:

The old lady hair product called "shimmer lights" for getting the yellow
out of grey or white hair. I works great on my horses stockings, and
it makes my white pony glow!
