Hello! I fell in love with Popeye K the moment I met him at Devon a few years back and eventually would love to have own of his offspring one day. I'd love to hear how your "kids" are doing and picture/video of them. Does anyone have offspring that they've started under saddle yet? I'm currently horseless and living through you guys, humor me please.;)

I know there are some under saddle because there were two or three from his first crop that qualified for and competed at the Royal Winter Fair last November in the hunter divisions. He has a son named Relevant K that was bred by a COTH member that did well in the Jumper Development Series classes and I know Tommy Serio has a couple that he was showing as well.

Tommy has a pregreen called Tommy K, but he was injured in FL last year and is just coming back into work now. He also has a client who shows one named Power Play K in the pre-adults/low adults. He has two more coming along, but both of those are just coming three this year. One is out of the nice regular mare he had, Somerset Bay, and is pretty cute.
Mine canters a little course of singles and does her changes, and is starting to work on lines. When it's not snowing or raining at least . I don't think she'll show until the end of the year though.

^^^Poppy's baby???? I can't wait to see more of her! Although I hope it's more mom's baby than dad's! Who does she seem like? Not that you can go wrong either way!

They have very similar personalities and certain things about their ways of going, so she really takes after both of them. Very quiet and people-oriented. I'd say she looks mostly like her mother with some of Popeye's hind end, and moves mostly like her mother. One thing I'm glad about comes from her father, it took her mother her entire pregreen year to get a lead change .

In Ontario, Tosca and Southern Belle are two Popeye K kids who were shown Adult Amateur this year on the A circuit. Both did very well and qualified for the Royal. Nice horses!

Ian Millar has a young mare, Mystical M, who is by Popeye and out of his former Grand Prix mare, Mistral. She's showing in the Level 5 schooling jumpers in West Palm.

CBoylen, I loved how Tommy rode Popeye K, I bet the ones he's bringing along are lovely! Does he have a website for his farm? Poppy sounds like she's coming along very well, and I second the updates please!:)
SummitSprings, your filly is gorgeous, you are one lucky chick!
Anyone know where I can find pictures of the ones that are showing? Thanks for all the help.

My hubby had the privilege of handling both Nyla and Relevant throughout their line class careers (weanling through 3 year old classes including the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Cup classes) :)
Both lovely, lovely horses with superb temperments. Of course their mom was quite nice as well so best from both parents!

I have a boarder who has a Popeye K mare who is 5 this year. The horse is absolutely fabulous - great temperament, big and beautiful with lots of chrome, and straight forward. She's being trained as an event horse and cleaned up at BN last year with clean jumping rounds and very nice dressage. Judges love her (and so do I!!!).
I"ll look for some pics...

TD- yes I am very lucky, she has the best temperment and is so sweet, I must encourage you, it has been so much fun having a foal!! But you'll hear lots of not so great stories, as it is a crap shoot. I'd pick Popeye K over and over, I still have never seen him in person!

I found a selection of photos for Mystical M on sportfot.com
For example:

Plus, the breeders of Popeye K (warmblood.com) show several siblings/half-siblings, as well as a number of his first offspring, on their website.

No, he has no website. There are older picture on Popeye's site though. The first under offspring is Tommy K, and the second two are of the colt, Montpelier. I don't think there is one of the filly out of Somerset Bay, although the foal with the really fantastic blaze is its full brother.
Anne Gittins has WEF pictures of Power Play. His rider is an amateur who started riding as an adult, and she has been the only one showing him. He was also only shown by an amateur and a junior as a young horse before she purchased him. Has a great attitude.

I used to have pictures of him and my daughter on my cell phone. I lost them when the phone died and I hadn't saved them. Anyway she was about 9-10 at the time. We had spent the entire day volunteering at the horse rescue's booth at the Penn National horse show. It was late and we were on our way out. I peered down a row of stalls and saw a blanket hanging on his stall with his name on it so I stopped and took a peek. My daughter spent the next 45 minutes petting him. Every time she tried to leave he would start banging on the stall with his front foot and she would come back. In the picture she is so tired she is leaning up against his stall with one hand on his nose. Both of them had their eyes closed, I think they were both asleep on their feet! Needless to say, I was sold on him right then and there.

Mine's a Popeye K!! He's out of a Money Talks mare. He's really really well built except for having a huge head. You don't notice the head when he's going though. He's got great scope, 1.40, and would pack anyone around without a problem.

Thanks cherham, Spacely and TDD.
Here are some pictures of Nyla and Relevant K http://community.webshots.com/user/hsgfarms
Nyla K was going really well under saddle and over fences...she is very much hunter in type and very easy going. She has been on vacation from work being a Mom for a bit. We do hope to bring her back to the show ring at some point....she had such a nice colt last year I just don't know if I want to try to breed her one more time before we do that.
Relevant K is doing really well in the jumper ring...he has a huge jump....their plan this year is to show him in the 6 year old jumper development series in Ontario.
We are excited and waiting for our Popeye / Friday's Next foal this year.......this will be a full sibling to Nyla and Relevant K. :)
We plan on breeding one of our mares to Popeye again this year as well....can't say enough good things about the Popeye offspring.

I have a coming 5 year old. His barn name is Marco, show name is Klever K but he hasn't been shown yet. I'm a very bad mom as my only pictures show a mud covered boy but underneath he's chestnut with diagonal white socks. I won't post the muddy pictures. He is sweet and quiet and could do any ring, hunters, jumpers or equitation. My trainer is riding him now and we'll probably do the hunters, then transition to some jumpers but ultimately I'm hoping he'll make up into my daughters Bigeq horse - we think he has the mind. Darn economy will probably prevent me from getting him to the shows I had planned to do, I need to budget for my daughters shows first and pony finals.
I finally met Popeye in person at Vermont last year, he was stabled a few rows down and competed in my division, what a gorgeous, impressive horse!

I sat on him half a dozen time, but would hardly call that "under saddle." He'll go back into training in a few months. He is ready to get to work, as long as he still gets to play!
OMG - I can't believe he is 3! I remember all the help and hand holding COTH gave me through the bredding/foaling process, as this was my first (and only) time breeding!

I have a really lovely rising 6yr old Popeye K gelding out of a Libero H/Lucky Boy/Rigoletto mare. He is a really super type and has a wonderful character! He is even more cuddly than his father was (and that's saying a lot, for all of you that knew him when he was with us!) . This boy is going to make someone an amazing show hunter and life long friend.
He can be seen @

We also have Popeye's full sister Tulip K. She is rising 4 this year and had a beautiful filly foal last year, by our young stallion Xavier K.
It's so wonderful to hear about all the fabulous talented horses Popeye K has produced over the year!
He really is one in a million :)!

I have a rising seven-year-old Popeye mare I bred. She's refined and not real tall (just under 16 HH which is great for me) but has a huge stride and jumps beautifully. Nothing fazes her - she jumps anything she is pointed out and seems to have a natural talent for finding the right distance. And I can hack her anywhere.
She has done a little low level eventing, won some schooling show dressage ribbons but she is totally a hunter and I'll be taking her out to some hunter shows this year.
She is very confident and totally a diva. Some days she's a little nappy 'til you get her into work mode, but at shows she acts like she owns the place.

This video was taken when she was still quite green but you can see jumping comes quite easily to her. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJ77p0mexSw

Everyone's horses are lovely, and I love how their looks vary so much.
My boy is ALL Jupiter with some improvements over his DAM in the shoulder, loin connection, and neck. He will likely top out at 16.1 is my guess (if not shorter) so that is fine by me. Jupiter really stamps his get!

There really are many nice Popeye babies around, especially here in Ontario. In Kingston there are a couple of his at Gladstone Farm that are breathtaking, and certainly doing well at the shows.
