Last night after getting all tacked up I realized my bridle was seriously messed up. (thats what you get for letting a 5yr old clean & put it back together ) In a time crunch I borrowed one from a friend and she had this bit on it

well horse in training loved it. Went better than hes ever gone before which is huge! Now I need to find one. Similar to the one above but with a better price tag. I would love a used one. Horse is just in for training and I don't want to spend a bundle, nor would owner if possible. Any ideas where I could find a used one?

You should fix your link -- it goes to the barn fire thread.

Terribly sorry link corrected. Don't know how that happened. And yes the barn fire is very sad

Try ebay. One word about the bit, though -- it is a lot of bit, and not something I would put in a young horse's mouth.

fordtraktor, I tried ebay no luck. Yes I know its a lot of bit, I appriciate your concern. :) Horse is not a young or green horse. He goes well in my kimberwicke (better than the mirrad of other bits tried) but obviously prefered my friend's ported barrel much much more. I could probablly borrow it for a while but would prefer to buy my own.

You might consider trying just a standard mullen mouth bit (loose ring or full cheek), or one that has only a slight arch to it.

A nathe bit might be an excellent choice. Both Bit of Britain and Dressage Extensions carry the nathe.http://www.bitofbritain.com/Nathe_Loose_Ring_Snaffle_Bit_p/0121.htm

I would stalk ebay -- try every week or so until someone has one up. Eventually it will be there!

Also the bits and barter board may work for you -- post what you want on the wanted as well as looking at the For sale section.

I don't think a mullen or nathe would work on a horse that needs a kimberwick. A pelham probably would.

I agree about the mullen/nathe. Also I'd rather not go to the pelham if possible. I'm not familiar with the bits and barter board. Is that another foroum site?
Thanks for the replies :) I love how helpful COTH is!

I would shop around.. Myler bits are expensive to begin with and Dover does not give you the best price. I found all my Myler bits from other stores.. Unfortunately I cannot find where I got them anymore. But google online and you should find a better deal.

There was one just like that on ebay not too long ago. If you are patient one might show up again.

Try this

Also, be sure to look at some of their other bits. The myler knockoffs are not drilled for a curb chain though, so I haven't figured out what I'm going to do with mine yet.
