I can't remember, but saw this and thought I'd post it in case :)

Not sure I like it, but it would look nice on a nice fiery chestnut!

Oh.
My.
<swoon> All but the size. I'm not sure I'll ever be that small on top, even at my goal weight. (70 down, 30 to go)
I'm SO tempted to get it and hang it in the guest/tack room and LOOK at it daily until it fits.... :uhoh:

I like it, and agree that it would be beee-yootiful on a red horse.

DROOL...
How about chestnut with flaxen mane and tail? It would fit me NOW... But i'm trying to shrink... Wonder how much of a pain it would be to have it taken in?

LOL I was thinking the same thing ... I ride a red and white spotted and a big red one. But good luck EVER being that small on top! :)

A hundred years ago ;) we used to show against a gorgeous strawberry roan pony in show classes and eventing, and he was ridden by a boy with red hair. The boy wore a really dark green jacket, and a really dark green velvet helmet, and the picture was perfect. They really stood out against all the navies and blacks.
The listing gives a brand - maybe try contacting the seller to see if there's any contact info, and contact the manufacturer?

OMG... Would that look stunning on my coppery red
Rico? And I'm basically a 34" bust, and petitie. Should I go for it? I've been looking for a dressage coat, and I LOVE anything green! Not crazy about brass buttons, but that is just so easy to change.

Ahhh... enter the enablers. If I had listened to them all I would now be the proud parent of 17 ponies, 3 donkeys, and a llama, LOL.
I will measure my arms and practice, practice, practice, so I don't become that 'awful rider in that funky green coat' LOL.

Doooo ittttt with the ponies and donkeys too (buy them, I mean, not the less savory implication!).

Nahhhhh, Do it!
I have a friend who showed her dark bay tobiano PINTO with a dark green jacket in a dressage show and she looked spectacular. No one said anything other than "you look fabulous". And she did look FABULOUS.

Oooh, I like it a lot! Back in the dark ages, when I switched from hunt seat pleasure to dressage, I had a dark green hunt coat, so that's what I always showed in, at training and first levels. I'm a redhead and I had a chestnut horse. Green is "my" color, anyway. :D

So, Lisa, are we going to have to rock/paper/scissors for it? I still need to get my measurements, LOL, but I AM tempted.

It might not be legal in recognized shows; be sure to check that out if you want to use it in those (I don't know, am just posing the possibility, based on what a friend told me who scribes).

Just says "dark color."
1. The dress code for Training through Fourth Levels is a short riding coat of conservative
color, with tie, choker or stock tie, white or light-colored breeches or jodhpurs, boots or jodhpur
boots, a hunt cap or riding hat with a hard shell, derby or top hat. A cutaway coat (modified
tailcoat) with short tails is permitted. Half chaps, gaiters and/or leggings are not allowed.
Gloves of conservative color are recommended. Exception: Riders through First Level may
wear half-chaps, gaiters or leggings in solid black or brown, without fringe, matching the color
of their boots, and made of smooth leather or leather-like material. The dress code for the FEI
Junior Tests, FEI Dressage Tests for 4, 5, and 6-year-old horses and the USEF test for 4-
year old horses is a short riding coat of conservative color, with stock or tie, breeches, hunt
cap or riding hat with a hard shell, derby or top hat. A dark tailcoat is also permitted for the
FEI Junior Tests. The dress code for FEI Pony Riders is dark coat or club uniform coat,
breeches or jodhpurs, white shirt with tie or hunting stock, gloves, boots and hunting cap; top
hat or bowler not allowed. Spurs are optional for all of the FEI Pony and Junior Tests, FEI Dressage
Tests for 4, 5, and 6-year-old horses and the USEF test for 4-year old horses. (See
DR120.8) BOD 1/13/08 Effective 12/1/08 EC 10/20/08 Effective immediately
2. For all tests above Fourth Level, the dress code is: a dark tailcoat with top hat, or a dark
jacket with a bowler hat or hunt cap, and white or light colored breeches, stock or tie, gloves,
and black riding boots. Spurs are mandatory for FEI tests (except as noted above under
DR120.1). (See DR120.8)

Trevelyan, you might have to rock/paper/scissors me for it... I not only need a new dressage coat, but I am planning on showing my coppery red dun this summer as well as a brown & white pinto w/ brown tack :D
Or maybe we could share it, you know, mail it back & forth between NY and MD, like "Sisterhood of the Traveling Dressage Frock" - who knows, it might even bring us some luck in the ring ;)
Oh and I would change the buttons to silver, is that what you would do too?

No judge ever did call out my friend, who also wore dark green in dressage. I'm willing to bet no judge would ever be petty enough to quibble about a dark green coat when the sport requires just a dark coat.
Kay, that said, I love the idea of the "sisterhood of the traveling coat". You'd have to post pictures...

**Ducking head from flying tomatos, etc.**
I saw it on Ebay today *before* my afternoon lurking on COTH. I swear it. THEN I saw the title of this thread and thought "Oh NO!!!! It can't be!" But there it was -- same jacket. :) After hours of thought, I finally just bought it.
This year will be my *first*ever* dressage show(s). I am just now starting to put my outfits together. BTY, my trainer will likely not be overly pleased since she told me "Black or navy". ooops. I will deal with her wrath tomorrow. In person.
I decided since I ride a very unconventional horse (Friesian/Andy), I might as well throw convention out the window when it comes to jackets. I will replace the buttons (silver) and it will need to be tailored a bit. I hope it fits. If not, I will let you all know first -- before listing back on Ebay.

I've shown in a dark green jacket for years and the only comment I've had is "nice turnout". This included rated shows. Rules only state that the jacket should be of "dark color". My old one is getting pretty worn though, and I'm on the lookout for a nice forest green/dark hunter green material to have another one made. If it weren't so darn hot, that dark green/black velvet like for party dresses would be devine...or rather I think the color is.
Enjoy the coat. I hope it fits well. I'm sure you'll look fabulous!

At the very least, I owe you pics, and pics you shall have. Perhaps video if it is not too mortifying. Show is in May.
My horse is green (four). I am green (to dressage). Jacket is green. It ain't easy bein' green. :D But hopefully it will be a lot of fun.
I'm sure I'll be back here asking how in the heck to deal with her unconventional mane as well before the show.

I keep checking this thread hoping someone will have a link to SOMEWHERE where the rest of us can find such a jacket in the size we need...
:sigh:
I do have a lovely hunter jacket that I plan to wear for summer shows. It is a very pretty "celdron" colour with incredibly subtle lavender pinstripe. An RJ Classics that I *stole* at the Collection Online.
But man, oh man would I ever loff me a dark green dressage frock...

I'd prefer a coat in a Very. Dark. Green. Then where would I find a hat to match?

Ah, will love to see pics!
My comment about whether or not it was OK for showing was as a result of mentioned scribe friend and I discussing a bright pink dressage coat wish; that's where I wrongly got the impression that only navy or black would be OK.
Maybe a bright pink would work if one only rode for color blind judges?

I WANT THE COAT!! :D:D:D
Would look nice on my 'burnt point' sliver bay :D:D
Been looking for something coloured like this for him - either green, blue (other than navy) or a green/blue plaid..
So if anybody finds one... ;) :D

Congrats on the new beautiful coat! I love your attitude, I have the same one. I'm riding a 14.3hh red roan overo mustang, very loud and splashy, very unconventional. As such, I'm also going "unconventional" with my look - I have a brown Stubben Tristan so I am going brown. Chocolate brown coat, brown bridle with baby blue padding, white pad with baby blue trim. I'll have pictures soon too!

I'm sure I'll be back here asking how in the heck to deal with her unconventional mane as well before the show.
Running braid or lattice braid works on my boy with his mane that is touching his shoulder blade right now. It's long and thick enough this year that I'm considering doing two running braids down his neck instead of just one. Good luck!

As soon as the coat arrives, I'll check it out for fit & condition and let you know what kind of shape its in. The seller did say it shows some wear. We'll see what that means exactly. Also have to see how well it fits my shape, and if it needs altering (probably does). But I could probably be talked into the sisterhood of the traveling green jacket. I'll post detailed pics of the jacket and final measurements (and my show dates haha!) in the future. :)
Can I have some suggestions on buttons? I know I would prefer silver, but am lacking the experience to chose 'perfect' buttons for a dressage coat.

Ah well... considering my piss poor riding, I'm probably better off not standing out, but gosh, now I have TWO chestnuts, so it would have been stunning with them both.
Definitely want to see pics of your first show!
