Does anyone have horses that come from the D line? Dux? Domespatz?
I believe that they are few & far between, but considered great broodmares.

Domspatz Stood at: Großenwörden 1956 to 1960, Kehdingbruch 1961 to 1967, Splietau 1968 to 1978, Approved sons: Diskus, Dömitz II, Domino, Domschatz and Dux Z.

This Hanoverian D line begins with the Thoroughbred, Devil’s Own (Robert the Devil / Camerino) who lived from 1894 – 1906. His blood was diseminated in Hannover by his great great grandson, Detektiv, who lived from 1926 to 1943 and in fact was bred to Devil’s Own both through his sire, Desmond, and his dam’s sire, Khedive.
Of Detektiv's three stallion sons, Denksport produced nothing while Dolman was the most influential, and the Dolman son, Dollart, started the sub-line, that leads through Domitz to Domspatz. The more influential Dolman son was Duellant, whose stallion line continues through Dressmann. The third stallion son of Detektiv, Dwinger established another line that lead through Diskant to Donnerwetter to Donnerhall, but that is another story.
A large framed black horse Domspatz has been described by Claus Schridde ‘as the quintessence of loyal showjumper horses with a preparedness to perform.’
He was fortunate to begin his career at the Großenwörden showjumper station, where he managed to establish himself permanently in the mare base.
After this, he covered in Kehdingbruch in the Hadeln region, before he changed over to the Splietau showjumper station in the Hanoverian Wendland region. He was very popular with the Splietau breeders, where he remained until his death in 1978.
Domspatz left behind a number of top quality horses for the international showjumping sport, including Dömitz (Gerd Wiltfang), Domspatz (Thomas Frühmann), Don Rudolpho (Franke Sloothaak and Michael Matz), Donath (Heinfried Simon), Dorillo (Hugo Simon) and many more.
His sons Domino, Domschatz and Don Rudolpho (also known as Dux Z), were privately owned and all competed successfully up to Advanced level. The bay Domino had great opportunities at the Paul Schockemöhle station and is found in a number of bloodlines.
Dux Z was an active showjumper for a considerable time and covered in Uelzen, not far from his original home in the Wendland region, when he was older. He produced a surprisingly high number of top level showjumpers.
Another black stallion son, Diskus was the only Domspatz to go into the services of the Celle state stud. He also produced a number of first class showjumpers including Denizen (Tim Grubb), The Natural (a World Cup winner in 1987 with Katherine Burdsall) and Doreen (Tjark Nagel).
Despite his time at Celle, Diskus did not really establish a male line. Two stallion sons, Diadem and Dupont were tried, and while Diadem produced a few nice dressage horses, no great showjumpers emerged.
While Domspatz was unable to establish a male line, his blood is still highly regarded in the mare lines today, especially at the three stations at which he stood in his long career. As late at as 1981, on the official German FN figures of progeny winnings in the sport, Domspatz made it to 8th place in a very illustrious top ten (Gotthard, Ferdinand, Der Löwe xx, Furioso II, Grande, Ehrenschild, Sender, Domspatz, Perser xx, Ladykiller).

I bred my Wendenburg mare to Domingo in the '90s. He was a Grand Prix dressage horse and was closely related to Diamont of Glenwood Farm.

I got a big moving horse, not too big, and oldstyle in the head. His mother despite her vintage has a really pretty head. (She's 29 now and still sound.)

Lilo Fore's deceased stallion, Pik Solo, carried two crosses to the D-line through his States Premium dam, Dorfbraut. Her sire line goes back to Duellant and her dam's sire line goes back to Domspatz.

Here's the pedigree:

We have lots of "D" here. *Dekor provided us with numerous offspring.

In addition our other stallions over the years have provided the "D" through their damlines. Very versatile and talented to the top levels. Very smart.

I own a coming 3yo who carries D line through his damline... His dam being Mont du Cantal /Eisenbarth /Duft II...

I would love to hear more about that branch of the D line!

I also had a Domingo daughter out of a Tanzenlicht mare. Big, powerful mare; big mover; big, unrefined head (as Oakstable mentioned). Very talented, but she was almost passive aggressive in a sense - extremely smart - and was definitely more of a "one person" horse.

As far as the D-line producing good broodmares, she did put a lovely filly by Arrian on the ground. Good conformation and a super fancy mover. I believe she ultimately went Elite. The filly had a very nasty temperament, though, and I could never really be sure if that had some from the mare or from Arrian (who I've heard tends to pass on difficult temperaments, as well).

Come to think of it, I worked with another colt by Donnerkeil that had a similar disposition. (Think spawn of Satan.) Same lines with Domingo and Donnerkeil going back through Duerkheim to Duft II. Coincidence?

This one of ours is still sound and beautiful in retirement. But not necessarily for the average rider. Or for the unfair demanding rider.

Incredibly talented and athletic, and very kind.

Love the Hanoverian D Line!!! (completely separate from Donnerhall/Donnerwetter, mind you)

This link will give you some info (some English, some German) about some of the bigger name D stallions - http://hof-kleemeyer.de/vd/d_hengste/hengste.htm#D that are both current & dated in Germany.

Darling http://www.sporthorse-data.com/d?i=751128 was DLG Champion and is the damsire of Tiamo Traccodero (sp??) and was also the sire of Cindy Ishoy's Olympic horse Dynasty - who is Waldaire's maternal granddam's full brother. Wally has a pretty consolidated pedigree in regards to the use of D line stallions & mares - http://www.sporthorse-data.com/d?i=704328&blood=10&quota= It is a great asset as the resulting foals are clearly stamped by both him & his ancestors.

Duft I, II & III were full brothers.
There is the debate in Westphalia as to who the sire of Romadour II truly is... http://horsemagazine.com/ if you click on the link to the Great Stallions and scroll down to his link, the alternative pedigree is given, in which case, Rubinstein is a great grandson of Duft III, not Romulus I.

That list of 'Great Stallions' has a few of the different branches of the D line in Oldenburg & Hannover.

From what I can remember, D line offspring are often found in 2 different 'wrappers' - dark bays with minimal white or chestnuts with A LOT of white. Most have very good canters, fair trots (not a huge amount of the current fashionable expressive action), good walk, powerful jump and can be 'plain' in regards to the head. They are horses that like to work - that I know from first hand experience. :)

I will try to dig up the article(s) I have and retype them into Word format with the lists of stallion sons & their descendants who competed at high levels and were noteworthy in the breeding shed as well. One of them had riding horse traits in a handy list format and I can't seem to find it since I moved....argh! We also have a lovely book that is by Werner Schockemöhle - Die Grossen Hengste Hannover with Gotthard on the dust jacket - it is jam packed with a ton of reference info...now the question is, where did I put it?

The Horse Magazine site has a few links to breeder interviews, so browse through that and see what else you can find on the D line...

The late FEI stallion Batido had the D line on the mare side.

I have a Batido gelding out of a TB mare and he has a nice head with doe eyes.

The TB mother was bred to four different WB stallions while I owned her. This last son by Batido is not tall but very large framed and I am thinking it comes from the D line.

Our Domino line mare is as sweet as they come, although, she is Very sensitive and careful, as well as kind and forgiving. She is quite large @17hands, with an unbelieveable amount of scope and step. And I've rarely seen her jump in poor form.

Which Domino? Allbreed lists several different Hanoverian stallions...as does Paardenfokken.

TIA.

I also own a mare that is by Dahlwitz - http://www.sporthorse-data.com/d?i=10452684. She is a big girl, great saddle position but has not wanted to cooperate (yet) in terms of getting in foal. She is an awesome horse to ride, though! :)

FCT - the temperament thing is probably a coincidence. Or perhaps that particular combination of bloodlines. Very off putting though to have had multiple horse experiences with the same quirks and similar breedings...

Our D's (and their descendants) have been very people oriented, responsive to handlers with good natures. Under saddle they are cooperative and enjoy jumping more than 'just' flat work to start...as a general statement, of course.

The Zangersheide website used to have quite a bit of reference information including very positive reports on Dominant for jumping talent. It is worth noting that Abundance's damline goes to Dominant.

I dont know how to post photos on here, so below are links to their pages to see them..
they are to me look somewhat similar.

My Mare EM Diamonette is sired by Dederick (Duft II).
see her at
http://www.irishhillsfarm.com/diamonette.html

I bred her to Donnersohn by Donnerhall, so alot of D line here.. got Diceman who is just *amazing* since birth..regional champion, undefeated in teh show ring & now started under saddle. he is gorgeous, correct & smart.. I loved him so much, I have another donnersohn foal due any minute.
see him at
http://www.irishhillsfarm.com/diamondfoals.html

Then I crossed her with Lilo Fores Pik Solo, who is strong D line as mentioned earlier in this post, and got Pik A Diamond, who i still have as a 2 yo because he just blows me away..
http://www.irishhillsfarm.com/pikadiamond.html

I also crossed Pil Solo with a Waldorf mare.
got the same mind.

I also have a filly sired by Donnerschlag.. She is a dream, but VERY hunter & smaller. I am hoping she will grow.
http://www.irishhillsfarm.com/delaine.html

I also had a filly sired by Donovan out of a trakehner mare. Yet anotehr sweetheart..
see her at
http://www.irishhillsfarm.com/zejalunafoals.html

I am not a super Hano pedigree guru or anything, but looking at what i have & what i have produced i will go to my grave saying that the D lines have just the most wonderful minds, are easy to deal with & extremely smart, eager to learn & really want to please.. But can be somewhat pushy on the ground at times.

Wow! Can't believe I missed this thread.
I have a mare, whose dam (Domgottin) is by Diskus. Her siblings include Noble I (previously being ridden by Jonathon Miller - Canada, and currently being ridden by Michael Hendrix - NL) and Necco (dam of Vertigo - imported to U.S. and currently in Young Jumpers). Check out her family line too.

http://www.paardenfokken.nl/pedigree.php?horseid=381979

Here are her pics: http://s283.photobucket.com/albums/kk320/winsmorefarm/Dorina%20H/?albumview=slideshow

She is large boned (built like a tank), but has THE best temperament - excellent mother. She apparently had at least one foal while she was still in Germany (we haven't found out any info. on him/her) and has had one colt for us so far. He is large and with good bone - his sire added some refinement, compared to his dam. He also seems to have his mother's temperament.

Here are his pics: http://s283.photobucket.com/albums/kk320/winsmorefarm/Imilian%20du%20Winsmore/?albumview=slideshow

Thanks Equsrider. Max is actually growing into his ears - thankfully.

Here are some pics of Noble I - my mare's brother. They look so much alike.
