Any recommendations in regard to a realtor that deals in horse properties? Any horse communities anyone would recommend?

Do a search.... Lots on this topic already.

Also, not many of the big "A" show trainers have covered arenas. There's not a huge need for it down here. My trainer's rings always had such great drainage that we could ride a day or two after and big storm and even then, it rarely rains for more than one day in a row.
(Beautiful 80 degrees and sunny, right now.)

I did a search, and know of the trainers in the area. I was hoping to find someone that could answer my specific questions.

Edited: The OP edited her initial post. Thanks for making me look like an idiot by removing your initial questions.
A lot of the search topics also talk about shows. There are plenty of shows in the area. Not as many (if any) A shows at Las Colinas anymore, as I think they've all moved to Tyler. There are also A shows at Glen Rose and Waco, both of which are convenient to Dallas. If you want to show year round, you can easily do so without even leaving the state.
Most people will typically do two weeks of Glen Rose in January, maybe head to Gulfport for a week or two in February then come back at the end of March for Pin Oak and the big Houston shows. You have two weeks in Tyler in May (which are great shows), two weeks of Waco in June, two weeks of Oklahoma in July and then things take a break since it's so hot here in the summers, plus a lot of people head east to Pony Finals. In September, things start back up again with multiple-week shows in Tyler, Houston and Glen Rose. Then there are the Thanksgiving and Christmas shows in Waco in December.

WOW, to make you look like an idiot... ok, actually to make my post more specific to what I was most interested in finding out. Please take a deep breath.
Thanks for the show info.

There are a couple of twelve acre farms for sale near us in Burleson. There are others for sale that we've seen on the way to shows in Aubrey or Bartonville.
I would check the MLs is Tarrant and Johnson counties for acreage and farms.

I hope you get some good responses--my husband has a job opportunity in the Dallas area. It's going to be hard to beat the Virginia horse country where we live in now...

Dray, How far are you from Dallas/Ft Worth? I was thinking you were close to Houston...

Angela,
I am only 35 miles from DFW airport!!
This will shock you...I bought a jum;ping saddle two weeks ago. Crap...I"m coming over to the dark side. Carson is schooling 4" with Tunica now. Chu had colic surgery a week ago. He came home in six days and is doing great...just restless from being in the stall so much. Seven young ones are now under saddle...lots of stuff since we last talked.
Where exactly do you want to be near? I have a few friends in real estate and can help you there.
Barbie Mims owns Huidden Lake Farm and is in real estate. The Farley's are in my local area.
Google Burleson, Texas.

I would look in the Aubrey, Flower Mound area. There are a LOT of nice places up that way. Not too far from downtown Dallas, and land is not that expensive up there. If you can stay close to 35 or 121, it will be easier for people to find you.
I agree with what Tha Ridge said about the dhows, lots of good A shows in the area.
Good luck with your search!!

Along the same lines.. can someone recommend an A ciruit hunter trainer around Dallas? We have SO many shows around here, but it seems not a lot of A circuit trainers? A friend was asking me, and I didnt have a good answer for her.

There are tons of A circuit trainers around here. A lot of it depends on your friend's budget, riding goals, part of town, etc.
Everyone has their own personal preferences, but the trainer list on THJA's site is a good place to start - http://thja.org/Trainers/Trainers.aspx

I've seen the list, but I dont know these people personally. Can you recommend anyone?

It's virtually impossible to recommend anyone without knowing your friend's budget, level of riding, horse(s) she currently owns, what her goals are, etc., etc. There's someone for everyone, but I'm not going to blindly recommend my trainer or another trainer I like when someone else may be suited.

Haha, ok.
Several horses, from fairly green to a year or so of showing. Local show experience, would like to do 3ft or 3'6" A circuit someday, but that is at least a year or so off. Not too crazy serious. LOL!!

Is she looking for boarding or a trailer-in? Some of the A show trainers around here won't take boarders because they like to keep the horses in more of a program.
I am heading out of town tomorrow morning, so I won't be able to actively follow this but if you have any more questions, feel free to PM me.

I ride with the Kallenbergers in Cross Roads which is close to Aubrey. I highly recommend them and their program. They go to all those shows that were mentioned in this thread. They also go to the local schooling shows for those that aren't ready for A shows. In addition to the trainer that goes to the show...there is always someone at home for lessons so those that aren't showing aren't left in the lurch.
To the OP...we live in Oak Point which is 10 miles east of Denton. Oak Point is at the south end of "horse country." You go north from here and there are many horse farms. There are also good equine vets, tack shops, feed stores, etc. We love living out here...

Who's good with the babies? Mine will be ready for pre-green next year. Budget is flexible...

Celine Burch is a good trainer, she is at Park Lane Eq Center in downtown Dallas (seriously!) very convinient, not very expensive board ($550 full care) and 3 covered rings for schooling!

I train with Celine because she's the only trainer in this area that would touch me knowing that I taught as well. She's amazing. Always messes with my head (in the good way) and always leaves me with plenty to think on and work on throughout the time between lessons. I highly recommend her for A circuit riders.

In addition to the big shows mentioned on this thread, there are quite a few more moderately sized A shows as well. My calendar so far includes 2 wacos in December, San Antonio and Waco in February, Houston and Austin in May, 2 Wacos in June.
Tyler is further away from me than ideal as a working Ammy. I like the big shows but for miles some of the smaller shows can't be beat. I'm sad that Pin Oaks won't work out b/c of my work schedule.

I was in Tyler this weekend Nick, it's not that bad a drive. Only about 250 miles. Pretty place. I bet it's really lovely in the spring.

Interesting, my Gmaps says its closer to 300 miles and 4.5 hours. I think I'm just really spoiled by SA, Waco, and Houston which are all within 2 hours!

Oak Point is a town. It is lovely...attached is a picture of are property of a spring day. Again, there is tons of horse property starting at about where we are...going north.
I am only about 1 mile away from my trainers so that helps tons with the work I have to do.
My husband and I like to watch the great blue herrons and king fishers that hunt fish from our pond.

We'd love, ideally, to find a property on acreage, with a lovely home... where we could build our fence, entry, and barn. Any recommendations where to find something like this near the h/j areas like Argyle?
So many times when looking at horse proerties one thing is perfect, say the home, but the barn is hideous... that's what we found in FL at least since we're not in a big horse area. So, we ended up building the whole thing...
SillyMe
Mar. 10, 2009, 05:01 PM
You will find pretty much the same thing here. Mostly people that say a horse barn and horse fence are not talking about the same high dollar horses that you are talking about. We ended up buying property and building the barn and fence to our specs. You will also find that "horse property" in Argyle/Aubrey area is pretty pricey!
Good luck with your search.
