it's the first clip.

Please don't be offended by the fact that this video is very much influenced by the Nazi way of thinking.

Yah, the final close-up of those faces gave me pause.

Nevertheless, Pollay ,IMHO, was a superior horseman, especially for that time.

LOVED the pirouette with no bend or particular suppleness!

LOL

I trully wish I had more time to subtittle these kind of videoclips. Specially videos like the one of the traumatised horse.

But Theo, that is eventing, "the Military" and my DQ eyes refuse to pollute themselves by watching eventing!

Not laughing--I gave up eventing because back then, it was a test of craziness and max speed, max risk -- and max trauma. And it stayed like that through the change in, I guess the 80's.

I still think it's a test of craziness, at the Advanced Level.

As for the Dressage test, I didn't think it was too bad for an ODG.

I think you have misunderstand me, when I was talking about traumatised horses I was talking about two of the other videoclips in this sequence. Called Memeory Decke and WilmaPlane.

So many died during the olympics in germany....the Xcountry test was very very difficult at that time. Thankfully things have changed! (a bit...)

More to the point, when only the "home team" knew where the "not so deep" part was.

That hasn't actually changed a bit from then to now. Within the last decade or so that trick was pulled im deutschland... only it was a submerged ROCK on a carriage driving marathon!

If the German team knew where the deep part was, why did it look like they all were going through at exactly the same spot, and why did one of the German riders have such a spectacular fall in the water? :)

Direct links are not advisable because they change every day.

just so happens that I think we should all give a big applause to Theo - for his wonderfully interesting video clips along the way and the inside knowledge he provides....as a German living in the US- I have to say I was a bit taken aback by the 'nationalistic' interpretation...and yes- there was a sweet spot in the water entry- which the other poor fellow didn't quite hit-- probably just the front left went deep= which was enough to unsettle the horse- once they get water in their nose they freak...;)

Liked the music match to Isi's ride...hehe!

Thank you all.

Wow, that is a water jump! I had forgotten about the different challanges they faced back then.
