I know a few people had discussed buying an IRH Elite a few weeks ago, and they were wondering what it looked like on. Mine arrived at the tack shop last week, and I finally took some pictures! I think it looks really good, not at all big.

If someone needs it off of facebook, let me know. This was just the easiest.

PS: This is the Elite Extreme, the one with the leather harness. My hair fits in it just fine. I have short hair, but it is very curly and thick.

Looks really good! Is it pretty comfy? Do you know if the fit similar to the regular ATH helmet?

(I looked through your other photos, and your buckskin is GORGEOUS - love her!)

Sorry, I need it off facebook. Sometimes they work, but not this time.

I was, but I'm not sure on the hard shell. I would have preferred some sort of fabric, like the ATH, say. I did think the Elite was a bit higher a profile than I wanted, but it's so hard to say these days. I think COs have a huge high profile too.. I don't know what to get now.

There is a picture of mine. I adore it! Fits me much better then any other helmet I have both with my hair up and down. I have very long thick hair too and it all fits under there fine.

I'm sooo jealous.

I ordered one in the hopes it would fit but it was too oval for me. I was really bummed b/c I think they look great on. I actually prefer them to the GPA speed air.

Bought one in Wellington last year when they had just come out. Best helmet ever and a pricetag that makes a scrooge happy! I bought the grey but the black is just as nice and not big at all...very low profile. Here's a pic:

I waited 3 months for my grey one from Dover. I've always wanted a grey helmet and just never ordered one. I can't decide though if I should just keep it for schooling or go ahead and show in it. It would look great with my grey coats.

Great looking helmets.

faraway, just as an fyi, if I were to jump a fence as big as that, I'd need a parachute for the downside. You look fabulous!!!!

It's much more comfortable than my old GPA, and I can definitely tell the vents are working - even after riding in So FL in this heat my head isn't nearly as sweaty when I take the helmet off as it was with my GPA or any other helmet!

Great thread! COs and GPAs don't fit me well at all. IRHs fit me very well. I was looking at the Elites, but thought they would look funny on with those side vents. But they look great! Definitely think an Elite is going to be on my spring shopping list...

Thanks Onyx and Quinn! It's the helmet and my amazing girl, Tomgirl! I'm only an extra in this picture!!

And Quinn, if you do find the parachute, buy me one...believe me I need one more times than I don't! ;)

PinkPonies- Thanks! She is my baby. :) It is very comfy. The foam that goes around your head (the part that hits your forehead, and all the way around on that part of the helmet) is snug, but the top part has some extra room (if that makes sense!). It's good because I plan on growing my hair out. :)

Babygreen- Are you talking about my lips? If so, thank you :)

....this is a great looking helmet, with ventilation and a reasonable price tag too! However, I'm wondering if one of you could tell me, is the brim flexible?

I'd try the ATH-SSV first — has a much better harness and looks FAB on.

Gwen: You have the Elite Extreme right? May I ask where you ordered it from? I have been looking into getting one and the place I order from says the Elite EXTREME is awaiting SEI certification. They won't stock it until it is certified (late spring/early summer)! I called another popular place and they said it is certified by the SEI.

So, I went on the SEI website and the Elite EXTEME is not listed!
Here is the link to SEI: http://www.seinet.org/search/search.php
The regular Elite with the nylon harness is certified.

So, is there a SEI sticker or mark in that helmet? Or if anyone else has an Elite Exteme helmet, do you see the SEI mark inside that helmet?

Wow, that is a very good question!

I will check when I get to the barn to see if it is SEI certified. I always thought it just had to be ASTM certified. Or is that the same thing?

FWIW, I ordered it from a local tack shop in Sarasota, FL. They got it from a supplier of theirs, I saw it in the catalog.

I'm not sure if they are one and the same or not to be honest. I really love the look of the helmet, and want to order one. Thanks you for checking :D

Hey Gwen. I can't see the pic even though I am logged onto facebook. I will try again in the am. Could you maybe email it to me? My email should be in my profile. I will also fill you in on where I was misinformed from via pm. Thanks a ton for the pic and info! :D

Does anyone have the ATH-SSV? It looks very nice in photos and I like the covering. What is the difference between the Elite and the Elite extreme? besides $10. :D

The Elite has a nylon harness and the elite extreme has a leather harness. Some people have said that they can't fit their hair up in the leather harness, but I have a LOT of hair, and my hair fits just fine. I think it depends on how you put your hair up.

The Elite Extreme has a leather harness. The Elite has a nylon harness. I have the nylon harness version and I love this helmet! Its a joy to take it off and my head isn't drippy sweating like it was with my old helmet.

As others have said it's the harness. I tried the Extreme on and it didn't fit even a little bit even with a size 7 5/8! Tried the regular Elite on with the nylon harness and it fit like a glove in a 7 1/4! Not sure what the shape/sizing difference is caused by (I tried them on with my hair down, not up in the helmet so that wasn't a factor...plus I have really thin hair anyway) but you might want to keep it in mind when trying them on! I love mine, I never thought I'd find a helmet that fit that wasn't a $500 GPA.

I do like the look of the leather harness better but for the price point and how well it fits I'll def take the nylon!
