I'm waiting for my 2009 foal (out of my appy mare "Spotless" x eventing stallion "Formula One") and was curious how early/late everyone else's foals are this year. Mine is at 348 days and counting. Going by 340 days as "normal" was your baby early or late? Would love to hear if they were colts of fillies! Happy foaling everyone :)

- One filly born in the evening (9:30 p.m.) of day 345
- One colt born in the morning (6:30 a.m.) of day 345

The colt was conceived via AI, one insemination, so the timing was about as exact as it could be. The filly was conceived via live cover, and I counted the days from the last cover.

I consider "exactly on time" to be 343 days, don't know where I got that, probably the first gestation calculator I found online!

Mine tend to go a bit early being ponies. First foal born at 324 (out of WB mare by Welsh stallion), second born last night at 329. Have two more due and thinking they will go a bit longer than the first two.

I have a mare at 336 days today that is showing no signs of foaling any time soon at all. So...not sure when she's going to pop, but I'm going to guess it will be late, I'll keep you posted.

So far I've had one of my own go at 323 and one client mare go at 346; both were fillies.

I can't vote, as you didn't include an option for all of the above. Three born so far where my mares foal out. One was later than usual for the specific mare, yet early by average gestation rates. One was early by two weeks. One right one the 340 mark.

Two more are shaping up. One is late and looks like she may go 350 days (waiting for that Wamberto baby ), the other is shaping up a bit early.

So my vote is - all over the place.

Filly born at 330 days. Maiden Mare, we weren't quite expecting her to go that early as she was /looking/ like she'd make her due date (3/14). But go figure, just glad she waited to lay down and go into labor until right as we pulled into the barn for a final night check.

Have one more maiden due 4/17 - and she's just now looking "pregnant". So we'll see where she falls in the next month or so.

We were going late with mares, and now we are going early. Past two days have had two that weren't due for about another 10 days-2 weeks.

My own mare went 355 days - foaled on February 13th. (I was ready to kill her. ) We have one in the barn who's 6 days overdue - she went 2 weeks late last year, as well.

Our first for the year was born on day 349; the mare's only previous foal was born on day 340. Both are fillies.

Today is day 340 for our second mare whose previous foals were born on days 335 and 340. Again, both were fillies. (Don't know why I keep bothering to mention that as all we ever have is fillies.)

I guess, because I have ponies, I have always used 332 days as my kind of "expecting" date. The one mare who foals two weeks earlier than that is still not doing much. For her 332 will be March 10. She could go fast (bag doing little right now) or poke along. My other mare who is usually about 332 is doing NOTHING> NOTTA. But since I have done this for many many years, I know how fast they can move, so we are keeping a very close watch on them. They are both (more due in April/May) living out with the other mares.
