Cute pic in Chronicle about Aaron Vale and Mallory Norton being engaged. On Valentine's Day he had ring braided in horses mane when he gave her leg up!
How old is Mallory, very cute girl but looked young in photo.
Best wishes to them.

Yes, I saw it in COTH, I didn't even know he was single.

He is old enough to be her father, she is 22 I think?

She is definitely...young...if this is the same Mallory Norton I'm looking at. Aaron has been riding her horses in competition so I guess it's not hard to fathom them having a relationship.

So what. Love is not restrictded by age. My father was 18 yrs. older than my mother when they married.

I wish them the best.

I was responding to a question about the age difference. I don't care what people do, how old they are when they do it, whatever. I don't give a crap if he is 70 and she is 17. Whatever.

Well, from the perspective of a male, I am okay with it as long as it's not one of those sugar daddy-type deals. I can't stand those. If he can land a beautiful woman half his age who actually cares about him and isn't trying to climb the social ladder, then good for him.

Sorry if I misunderstood, but given the context of your response "old enough to be her father" one would naturally conclude that you do indeed have an issue with the age difference.

He is old enough to be her father. That is one statement.

The other statement is:
I don't care if she wants to marry somebody that old. I don't care if he wants to marry someone that young.
One of my best friends only dates younger men. If I didn't know her and saw her out and about with her boyfriend, I might think it was her son. I don't care what she does either.

How old is Aaron Vale anyway?

But your second statement only came after you were called out on the first.
If you really don't care about the age difference why put in the context "he is old enough to be her father" to begin with?

Why wouldn't you just say he is older than her and leave it at that?

I say Kudos to her for finding a straight, good looking guy who rides h/j!

Because he IS that much older than her. It was an observation. And I didn't care enough to type out a whole schpeel on it.

Why do you care so much about whether I care or not? I am just some random person on a bulletin board on the internet.

Maybe your SO is significantly older/younger/taller/shorter/fatter/skinnier that you, I don't care about that either. But, I would bet if you were 7 feet tall, and your SO was 5 feet tall, someone would say something about that too.

Sigh  Not even going to respond anymore... worn out.

Autumn Cowgirl: No joke, right!!! LOL.... Its hard enough to find a nice straight guy without hangups anywhere!

LSM: Did you see the closeup of the ring in the mane? That thing is ginormous! I would have been so scared it would have gotten lost, fallen out, the horse would have run away...etc.

Now that is a COOL way to propose.

What the heck is a horse girl going to do with an engagement ring like that though?? It's gonna catch on everything at the barn :D

How old is Aaron Vale anyway?

His last junior year was 1986, so, depending on the time of year of his birthday, he's 40-41.

Yes, it's a very nice ring. My hubby did something similiar but it was tied around my dogs neck. :) And my other dog had flowers tied around her neck to go w/ the ring. Awwww.....

I'm sure the ring is insured if something had happened. :D

That made me LOL because when my now fiance were shopping for rings I made sure to let it be known that I wanted a ring that wasn't going to get in my way at the barn :p

That's awesome! I love those pictures... very sweet.

And older men are great! My SO is indeed 20 years older than me, and I wouldn't have it any other way. He's definitely not my sugar daddy either... household expenses are from his income and recreational expenses, to include both our horse habits, come from my income.

I don't wear my rings to the barn so not an issue for me. But I also don't "live" there. :D But I prefer lower profile rings anyways.

Yes, it was very sweet. I wasn't back into horses then or I'm sure he would have figured something out to add my guy to the mix.

But he did buy 1/2 of my guy for me for Christmas in 2005. :D

He's a keeper.... bonafide.

Congrats to the two!

Aaron is a great guy, and there was a lot of talk when him and mallory went public. As a former student/employee of his, I am thrilled to see him laughing and happy again! Congrats to both of them I wish them the best!

 That reminds me of one of my really good friends. Her now husband but then fiance got her an amazing engagement ring. It was huge, low profile and just perfect for her in everyway. Around the time they got engaged they also purchased a farm and after the fencing was up the arena was the big project.

EVERY SINGLE TIME someone complimented her on her ring at a show or wherever she would immediately say 'thanks but it's still a work in progress. It has a few high spots and low spots, I need to get back out there with the T9 and really work it over.'

Ummm...they were talking about your engagement ring sweetie, not the riding ring!! Horse people and their one track minds.

Congrats to the happy couple...IMO the average 22-yo female is about equal in maturity to the average 40-yo male :p From the time I was about 18, I've almost exclusively dated men in their 40's...however, this may become a problem when I hit my 70's or so ;)

What a great way to propose -and a truly happy story. They look very happy and in these days, we need more of that. More power to them and especially in that they will work so closely together too - hoping that only brings them closer.

Wishing them all the best.

(how does one find a single man that rides?)
