I realize the rust topic is getting a bit, well, rusty, but...

I'm wondering if rust breeches would be more flattering (or is it just less unflattering when it comes to breeches?) for a curvy girl than the beige or baby-puke green?

I am a very solidly built curvy girl. My legs are large but muscular. I am an adult, who shows in mainly local B shows, with a few A mixed in. My girl is black, so everything looks pretty on her - no clashing issues here.

Light colors and patterns make the person wearing them look heavier. Stick to solids--blacks, browns, blues, dark plum...lots a pretty dark colors...if it matters...if not wear what you want.

I'm not a rust fan, but I did see a pair of dark chocolate brown breeches that I am coveting like crazy. Saw one rider wearing them in the jumper ring, and me wantey!! They were absolutley gorgeous & slimming.

I'm a curvy girl and I LURRRRVE brown britches! I had a lovely pair of chocolate-brown Irideons that were my favorites-- until I managed to NOT-so-gracefully shred them while dismounting and sliding down over a safety stirrup on my friend's saddle. Thank god it was only friends at the barn that night, because there was a LOT on display and I could only pull my sweatshirt down so far!!

I'm 33 and I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a pair of rusties for schooling... but my horse is a chestnut, so... umm... yeah, that probably wouldn't be so nice. :)

My pair of rusts just arrived at the tack store this past week. I'll be picking them up when I'm home for Spring Break on Monday. I'll try to take pictures! [It'll be on a grey or dark bay...my own horse is bright bay aka "red buckskin" lol]

I wish they would come up with a acceptable darker color, maybe not the rust but something that was a little more flattering. I won't even wear pants to work that are light!

I think rust is definitely more slenderizing than tan or khaki green, that's why I have several pair of them. ;) And they don't show dirt as easily either.

I don't have any rust...yet. But I do have charcoal and chocolate brown and they are much more flattering than tan. So, I'd conclude that rust would do the same.

I love chocolate for schooling - VERY pretty. I also love the smoke blue color (not quite navy). I also saw a dark plum color (not sure what brand) that was lovely. My trainer would probably have a cow if I showed up at the in gate in rust.

I think rust is more flattering, but keep in mind, CUT is important too. Pleated, no pleats, side zip, front zip, etc. can all make a difference on different body shapes.

True. I have found the Ariat Brittany to be a good fit, and I still like the Shapely for comfort.

Some fabrics are more complementary to the curves(and the dimples that sometimes accompany curves) and mask the issue. . Consider the Tailored Sportsman two-way stretch fabric....doesn't matter what color it is, it shows every darn dimple. The Four-way stretch is a little more covering.

I've not tried the Pikuers, so I'd be interested in observations about the fabric as well.

The Grand Prix (every day breeches in the low rise and fun colors) seems to be a nice thicker fabric that also masks and smoothes.

I LOVE my Pikeurs and the fabric repels a LOT of dirt (they are white), and it's kind of smooth but not thin so they don't show the cellulite! LOL

Why do you think rust is popular with the mostly older set;).

Have a pair on myself as I get ready to head to the barn. TS schooling breech with side zip. Oh, they call it "Raisin" but we know what it really is.
