Was just wondering if any new video on him at shows in FL? Loved the video of him jumping, along with seeing his sire, Torino jumping (he reminds me of his dad quite a bit).

I heard that he was going to start showing soon and I can't wait to see him jump!

I am going to my trainers this weekend and will try to get more video footage of him. :)

Thank you! Do you know if he has started showing yet?

Fiddy attended and made his jumper debut last weekend at PSJ in Canterbury :) His trainer gave him high marks across the board. Jumped around quietly, schooled, took in the sights.... He just turned 4 this past Saturday so the overarching objective was experience. Like his trainer said, the courses are no problems, its everything else, especially for a baby stallion making his first venture into the show world.

Unfortunately, no pics. I had to stay in California and work :(

As ponygirl said, stay tuned for more video. John said Fiddy's made huge strides in the last 6 weeks and is jumping very much like Torino, so I am eager to see this latest update.

How exciting! Can wait to see updated pics and video. Can't believe how much he has grown and reminds me of Torino (just with the video that I recently found).

How tall is he now? And are you planning on standing him for stud at some point?

Please post when you get! :) :)

WF - Fiddy looks like he's going to be a solid 16.2 when he's finally done (thank goodness... I feared 17h when he was a foal!).

The jury is still out whether he will become a breeding stallion, but it's largely up to him. Temperament wise, he's a perfect gentleman so he can retain the family jewels for now. But, if he is going to be a breeding stallion, he needs to continue on this track and show us that the scope, technique and rideability he is displaying is sufficient to make him a successful competition horse at the highest level. My trainer will help me with this decision. I believe he has a lot of qualities to offer the American mare base, but I decided long ago that he would only be a breeding stallion if he has the talent to be a competitive Sunday horse on the big tracks. We may do a couple of test breedings this year or next just to make sure he is producing as expected, but for now, we "go slow to go fast." He's in very capable hands and is on track to compete next year in the 5 year old jumper series. Only time will tell! :D

Giada is currently 16.1/16.2 and is mostly filling out right now. She turns three years in April. She is more like Jete (in looks and personality), BUT there are some major areas that Torino has stamped her - especially her hind end, movement and jump ability. We've caught her a few times jumping over things on her own and she IS her father's daughter - WOW!

I will be curious to see how she continues to grow up, and how she compares with Fidelio.

Torino does definitely stamp his offspring with his hind end :D. The power from that hind end really can not be appreciated until you see it in person.

From the pictures I've seen, Giada definitely looks like Jete and you didn't get gray! Fiddy and his other full sister are supposed to be carbon copies of each other, but I've not seen pics of her since she was a foal. Knowing the entire cast of characters, Fiddy is definitely a blend of Torino and Jete. He has his dad's power and scope, most definitely his canter and the Cassini bone, but many of his other physical aspects, expressions and actions remind me of Jete and his half-brothers, Balta'Czar and even some glimpses of Aslan. He definitely got Jete's super strong topline and her very tight, hunteresque front end over fences. His temperament is a carbon copy of Balta'Czar for which I am eternally grateful....raising a stallion for the first time it was like have training wheels. My only wish is that he was a mare ;)

If we do any test breedings this year, I may put him to Papillon and Neah Bay xx. Do you remember Papillon? The mother of Balt'Amour?

DO I remember her?! LOVE that mare! I think I still have pics of her from RPSI keuring and when Balt' Amour was a foal, as well as tons of pics of Fid when he was a newer foal (that's the last time that I saw him). That could be quite a cross and I would be very interested to see the outcome.

Very true about the Torino hind end and power AND the appreciation for it.

Perhaps you and I should talk one day about exchanging breeding leases - Gia for Papi.

Oh, I would love a swing at getting Jete's bloodlines in my breeding program. That mare is amazing and so consistent in her production.

I'm so torn right now. I've wanted to breed Papi to Quattro for years, and I just about decided that, but now Fiddy is doing great and so is Balt'Amour (who is now with Nicole Shahinian-Simpson). The temptation to produce another Balt'Amour is over the top tempting. Choices, choices! :)

Not to take away from Jete, but I feel it is important to honor the special mares, especially the founding mares. The success of Jete's production is due to the mare, Foxen. Foxen has been a fantastic foundation mare for sporthorse breeding in NA. Proof that the key is the mother lines. We feel fortunate to have a fantastic Foxen daughter by Cacique (Foxen's last foal). http://www.silvercreeksporthorses.com/images/VegaInsp1[1].jpg (photo of Vega at her 3 year old mare approval)

I totally agree Barbara! Foxen has left an indelible mark on American breeding. There are now 6 generations (with the seventh to be bred this year) of this mare line in WB breeding and it all began with a Thoroughbred.

Unfortunately, American record keeping does not lend itself to honoring mares such as Foxen so it falls to the mare owners of these lines to keep the history alive. Thank you for reminding me of this fact. ;)

Showjumper--- I hear you might have a Foxen daughter headed your way?!?! My client sent me an email a couple days ago and said they were talking with you!

Foxen was out of a TB mare named Foxy (tatooed but pedigree unknown) and by Pregelstrand. I'll have to look up the mare's name, but Foxen had a sister that was also successful. Cheryl Frank had put together a great Holsteiner book of American motherlines. There are several really outstanding families that all began with a Thoroughbred mare. If you can find a used copy of the book, it is really a great tool.

Yes! :D We are very excited to have another Foxen daughter (by Cicero) coming to us next week.

Barbara - Have you noticed that Foxy's pedigree has been updated in Allbreed?

It made me more than a little curious.

This is a timely thread! I have started riding a training/sales horse that is by Torino as well and I was WOWED by the hind end on this filly. It literally took me by suprise the first time I sat on her. I was very impressed. I was tickled to see the video of Fidelio and was taken aback by the similarities of him and his half sister. I will look for him in FL this year!
Torino is stamping his ospring well, and they appear to be of excellent quality and trainibility.

I saw that. I am not sure that it is accurate as I spoke with Foxen's breeder a few years ago and she said that they were unable to read Foxy's tatoo and thus were unable to further research her pedigree.

I don't plan on breeding Gia right now, so we have a few years on her part. I am planning on her starting to earn her Elite status, and would like for her to get her performance requirements done early. Hopefully, next year she'll be headed to join her brother, Fid.

I completely understand about Balt'Amour - wouldn't mind adding a full sibling of his to my breeding program as well!

Interesting info about Foxen and Foxy. Could you please post pics of new Foxen daughter when she arrives - would really like to see her - very exciting. I am very excited for Giada to continue this super legacy.

Are you sending Giada to John as well?!?!? If you're considering it...one thought to add to you decision-making process... the man is a god. Fiddy is a 5-hour plane ride away and I don't have a single concern about his care or his training. Hope that makes the decision very easy!:yes::lol::yes::lol::yes:

You guys can't get him so busy he has no time for the person who just happened to tell a friend about her god of a trainer :)

After hearing so many good things about him and how well he has done with Torino and so far with Fidelio - YES those are my tentative plans. Of course, I will need to work out logistics and perhaps speak to THE MAN himself to make sure that he will be able to take Gia (when the time comes of course).

I am VERY particular about the care of my horses, so yes that really makes me feel better knowing this.

Can't wait for updates on Fid!!!! AND other Torino offspring too!

Well..this is just a baby Torino kid update. :-) Below is link to my 8 month old colt by Torino:

Colt is the bossy one on the left of both pics, holding the whip in his mouth. He is with his older sister/best friend:
