Please tell you experiences with Legend dressage saddles. I might be trying one out and would love tho know people's experiences with them.
OK, I admit it, I am an idiot... I REALLY wanted to know about Legacy dressage saddle, not Legend. I do not know why that name came into my head...
Anyone have one? How do you like it? Tell me more please.

We actually ordered one of these (the Zara model) and it's supposed to be here Friday. I'll let you know how I like it, but I will tell you that it took forever to get here...We ordered it back in January...So we'll see if we get it on Friday

Hi, last year when I was in saddle-hunting hell, I looked at the Legacy. If it is still the case, they are made by Ryder saddles http://www.rydersaddles.com/. Legacy is DE's "house" name. It's a very nice quality saddle, but I didn't buy one for a variety of reasons. Any of the saddles from the small Walsall saddlers will be really nice. Good luck.

Agh, I see by their link they have one specially designed for Friesians - wonder if it's a marketing gimmick :P. I actually ordered the Zara for our Friesian stallion - I'm hoping for a good fit. If not, I will probably have to modify one of the other saddles we have - I did a good wither tracing job on him, though...with that black coat marking the correct spots was easy :D.

It's not a marketing gimmick, google Tweespan. We don't have nearly the variety of saddles on this side of the pond that are available in Europe.

Nice quality, comfortable, well constructed saddle. I liked mine a lot. It was a great fit on my meaty-shouldered horse, too.

I love my Keiffer, but I am debating on whether to try another saddle. I am looking for a little deeper seat, I think. My friend is selling hers and I want to give it a try. I sat in one a while ago and liked it, it was comfortable.

I have one that I bought about a year and a half ago. I LOVE the buffalo hide, and the deep seat is wonderful.

Much like other brands, it depends on the model. I've ridden in 2: loved one, disliked the other. I would certainly recommend trying one. They were nicely made, comfortable and fit a variety of horses.
Good luck!

I REALLY liked it. I rode Frodo in it today and I really felt like I had someplace to sit and was not STRUGGLING to sit on my bones. I liked how it aligned my legs and heals... I am going to try it a few times.

I have two Ryder saddles - I have the Fryso Legacy in black and a Ryder RS in brown - I contacted Glen at Ryder to custom order the brown one and he told me the Fryso Legacy and the RS are the same saddle.
I ADORE both my saddles - I bought my Fryso in Holland and brought it back with me, it is the nicest saddle I've ever sat in. I've had tons of people sit in it who concurred.
Here's a pic of my brown saddle on my green bean stallion...

I highly recommend you email or call and talk to Glen at Ryder if you're interested in one of his saddles. I'm planning on ordering a jumping one as well. Price was very reasonable and the saddle was made and shipped quickly! :)

And don't forget that Dressage Extensions sell the Ryder saddles under the "Legacy" brand. And I do believe there is another company in the USA that sell them too, under another name (might be Hobson's Choice, but I can't remember.)

I own two Ryder saddles and love them. Very comfortable and high quality. The Gift Horse Saddlery in Washington carries them.

I have a strong opinion about Hobson's Choice Saddlery, and information that may affect your decision to purchase anything from that retailer. Please PM me if you are considering doing business with them.

Grabmane, if I end up buying that saddle, it will be from my friend whose saddle I am trying. Thanks for the heads up.

We got our Legacy yesterday (turns out that the shipping delay was our fault - grrr). It's absolutely beautiful, and seems to be more of a U shaped tree than mine, which is what I was looking for for the U shaped horses we have (although the tree is XW, so it may just be that it's a really WIDE A :)). The saddle itself is absolutely stunning; the seat is soft and deep, and the leather is comparable to my $4,000 Verhan (considering that the Verhan is calf and this is buffalo/elk). I am going to try it tonight - we were waiting for our Friesian to be off stall rest as it's for him, and that's today! (wish me luck that he won't be a butt head!)
I spent yesterday trying it on a whole bunch of horses to see which ones it would fit, and so far both of the stallions are a go, as is one mutton withered mare...

So I rode in it today for the first time, and I did moan and complain for a few minutes because my seat felt "off" and I felt strapped in (my own saddle is a much larger Odyssey - probably a bit too big for me, but comfy). After about 10 minutes, however, I settled in and started enjoying the snug fit of the seat. I think that I will like this saddle a lot for riding the stallions, and it fits the WB quite well, too. It took a while to get used to the high back, though!

I liked the high back, I think because it helps me be more aware of my seat and helps me to use it.

I borrowed a friends DE Legacy saddle during my "adventures with saddle fitting." It was #4 tree and had the big blocks and a deep seat. The seat was an 18" but it felt much smaller, but it was certainly secure! I used it on my TB with the addition of a fleece half pad. The saddle had a nice wide four finger rear gullet and ample thick gusseted panels. My sensitive TB appreciated that. The quality of the construction seemed nice. I ended up buying a Schleese Jane Savoie with a more "medium" seat and smaller block, I needed something "less confining" than the Legacy.

After riding every day for a week in this saddle, I have to admit that I now love it unconditionally. My trainer is going to have to pry it out of my hands to use it on her andalusian. Oh wait, I'll just ride him too :). My odyssey is twice the price of this one but doesn't fit half as well, sigh. It was better when I was heavier but now that I've lost a bit of butt it's a bit too big :D.

Hi, I own a Ryder Legacy dressage saddle and LOVE it! I have had others try it and they also love it. Deep seat, very comfortable, fits my QH, TB, and Friesian cross well. Seat is buffalo or elk or combination. I have had a chance to try Albion and others and still prefer this one. Would like to have a second one! Hope you buy one.:)
