I have been back and forth over this idea for the last six months, have investigated a few options close to home, and gotten nowhere. "Puppy" is my 6 year old ASB gelding. He's an attention hog, sweet and goofy, and was recently very ill with a heart infection. (see his jingles thread: http://www.chronicleforums.com/Forum/showthread.php?t=179297) I think my darling gregarious Puppy would benefit from having a little buddy all his own, who could travel to the trainers' with him, to shows with him, play outside with him, and hang with him in his stall.

I know I'm looking for a saint in an equine/porcine/goat/fowl body....but I'm open to looking and I'm patient. I've nixed several possible matches because I didn't think they were quite right. I've given up my local search and want to branch out :)

So, here goes:
PUPPY - seeking companion of the dimunitive variety. Puppy always poops in one corner, is completely confident that he is the center of the universe, like to entertain himself by doing oddball things, enjoys cavorting outside, and going on walks with Mom. Puppy is an equal opportunity companion seeker. He will consider miniature horses, miniature donkeys, goats, sheep, pigs, and many fowl. No reptiles need apply.....Puppy and Mom are both scared of them. Puppy is not vertically gifted, but believes himself to be 18 feet, 7 inches tall. He would like a smaller companion to enhance that belief. Mom's not certain about the fowl companions, but is assured that several famous ASBs have had fowl companions (such as the great WGC CH Imperator) and Puppy would be in great company if he were to meet a friend of the feathered variety. An easy keeper is preferred, since Mom needs to worry and fuss over Puppy and not someone else ;)

We are located in Iowa, and hoping to find a fine companion who needs to find a new, loving home and would enjoy excelling at the Very Important Responsibility of Official Escort to HRHP (His Royal Heart Patient) Puppy. PM me with any questions!

Thanks hrzcrz...but we're not looking for another horse. I'm afraid maybe my post wasn't clear enough on that - I'm looking for a small companion for puppy. A mini horse or mini donkey, pig, goat, sheep, etc. Something that can live and travel with him with a minimum of fuss ;)

Good luck placing your mare!

Try this:

You can do a search for your area, and find something out your way, that is in a shelter, and needs a home.

If you met him, you'd understand. It began as a joke but it fits him. Hence the "ASB gelding" part in the thread title and in the body of my post, to clear up possible confusion

Great idea...I will check that out. I was just at the Animal Rescue League yesterday, dropping off a donation of sterile surgical gloves. They recently went through a huge renovation and built several new buildings, including a new barn. I asked if we could go look, but we were told there weren't any adoptees in there. Good for them!

right, I couldn't tell if you were talking about a puppy and your ASB gelding- or your gelding named Puppy.
