TOTD has a great deal on the stud kit today... but I don't have a horse to use them on (Semi-retired guy is barefoot). Hopefully in a year or so I will, so should I go ahead and stock up now even though I don't really need them yet?

If you're like me and have a "stuff" fetish, then go for it :) I bought a bunch from a gal on eBay a couple of years ago- think I paid like $.50 a piece. I'm not using them at the moment (starting over with a greenie), but will in the future. There's nothing wrong with planning and yes, I am an enabler ;)

I bought 2 to use as prizes, but I may keep 1 for myself. It is a good price and an uncommon sale item.

That's what TOTD is hoping. :) Go ahead, support the economy! ;)

On the credit card 'cause my tax refund hasn't come yet, of course, lol. That is the only thing I like about taxes ;)

Well I did it. That is my monthly contribution of frivolous buying to stimulate the economy ;)

Yes! Stimulate that economy!!!! That was my justification for buying all the crap I "needed" for Vernon a couple of months ago.

As for studs, yes, stock up. If your studs are like ours...they grow legs and walk away. One event, you have a full set of your favorites, the next event, three of them are missing.

I always go for stocking up whenever possible. Of course this did lead me to going through all my tack and getting rid of 15 bits, three bridles, a few halters, a fly sheet, pony sized cart harness, three pairs of boots that will never again fit me and various other sundry because, well, lets face it - I have one horse, I am not going to be training horses for a living for a LONG time, if ever and my house only has so much room....

Of course, this does leave plenty of options for future buying....

I have the same problem. I should have my own version of Confessions of a Shopaholic, only with Ariat instead of Prada. I might even have to consider "freezing my assets", but at least I would be patient enough to wait out the thaw... lol.

I do the same thing. If it a really good deal then yes. My husband just dosen't get it. He asked what the charge was the other day to
Valley vet was for. Isaid I got a good deal on a years worth or wormer. He didn't quite understand. I had to go through all the math and prove to him I would save about 16 to 20 in a yr. Woosh, over his head. Just do it. If you know you will use them, then why not. Your just saving $ ahead of time. Mental health days are awesome. We all need them.

I had a "stuff" moment today. I went and took a jumping lesson today and while in town one of the tack shops there was closing down... most of the stuff was gone but bits were half off... I couldn't help myself. I got a hollow mouth loose ring snaffle and a 2 ring elevator/gag bit. Do I have a horse of my own to use them on... no lol. But I might soon... that's my theory and I might need them one day lol. I also got a new J3 CO for half off... that I really did need. Mine was 5 y/o and needed to be replaced as it has been my everyday helmet pretty much since I got it.
