View Full Version : Calling all COTH ers--2ND Annual Rolex Get-together Dinner
pinkdiamondracing
Feb. 25, 2009, 11:41 AM
It's almost that time again!!!:yes::yes::yes:
Where do we want to meet this year?? Once again, I am willing to take care of the reservations on this end, we just need to decide when and where.
I thought the "after XC" dinner night went well last year, although there were several who would have come had we held it somewhere other than the Chinese restaurant.
I was thinking pizza might be a good one, although the closest pizza place does not serve alcohol. We might have a better turnout at pizza, and I suppose we can go sans alcohol for the event.

If anyone wants to go this at the campgrounds we could have a get together at my campsite.

What about Fat Katz pizza in Georgetown...its not very far up 75...I think the first g'town exit

Ooh - I'll be camping, too! That would work for me...since we're not gonna drive the RV to a restaurant!

Feb. 25, 2009, 12:02 PM
So, should we do a potluck @ the campground??
This would give those who are competing a chance to come by and eat before making the ponies ready for the Sunday Morning Jog.
We could have an online sign up sheet for dishes, or maybe go by alphabet (using our COTH screennames of course)-- Screennames A-G bring main dish, H-N bring a side dish, O-U brings a dessert, and V-Z bring an appetitizer???

This is something that could work, only thing is if we get the down pour of rain, is there a dry place to hold it?
I'm in for this.

Feb. 25, 2009, 12:16 PM
If it rains, there's always the canopy @ The Grill on The Hill, and I think there's one in the campground over by the store, if I am not mistaken.
So, a picnic, then??
Sounds like fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D:D:D:D:D
LAZ
Feb. 25, 2009, 12:23 PM
There is a covered area right behind one of my friends campsite--and I can bring a pretty big canopy if it looks chancy (though I'd need help before alcohol to set it up). ;)
My campsight is near where CookiePony was last year--east edge, outside loop. I'll look up the # later.

We could order pizza and have it delivered. Bringing a main dish might be difficult for those of us coming from out of town. But I LOVE the idea of having it at the campgrounds. No muss, no fuss, come as you are. Sounds like a good time!!

I'll be in a big RV in campsite A033...wherever that is. Never stayed there before!
So excited!

No cooking for anyone, and no dishes for anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!:yes::yes:

I don't know how many people plan on showing up, but if there are a lot, you might consider renting the campground pavilion:
http://www.kyhorsepark.com/sub.php?pageid=74§ionid=10
The kicker is that if there are more than 25 people, you have to rent a porta-potty.

Since I'm going to Paris (KY) again this spring to see my brother...and it just HAPPENS to coincide w/ Rolex....!!
I've never made it to the Coth gathering. After all, I have to spend SOME time w/ the man...! But I'm there for a couple extra days, so I may drop by. Will everyone be wearing green or something? Flowers in their hair? Bells on their toes?

Me either - never been to a COTH gathering I mean.
Would love to meet all! However, I wont be staying on grounds, actually at the moment I am searching for a hotel room. Any ideas about which hotels to avoid, and if anyone has a room available they won't be using -- help!

Are total Rolex newbies allowed to come?
If yes, I think it will be me + 4. 2/4 live in town (one even works for KHP) so we can bring supplies if needed. I might have to check in again as we get closer but I think this would be the most fun ever!!!

Has it been decided? Will this be after XC in the campground? Is it order out pizza or pot luck? Somehow we have to get some vitamins and green chop.
How about someone (Pinkdiamondracing?) putting together a private message list for details as we get closer to the day?
That way we can each figure out what to bring so we end up with knives and forks and napkins and salad as well as beer and pizza. :)

Once again, we need to finish details-- after all, it's this week!! I can call Pizza Hut and put in the order, LAZ says we can hold @ campsite-- I will request paper plates from PH, How many pizzas do we need, how do we collect to pay for it, etc?? We are running out of time.

I have a stack of napkins/plastic ware/bowls in my trailer, and I"ll make a big bowl of tossed salad as well. I"ll bring a couple of my folding tables so we have some place to set stuff.

If it's Pizza Hut or Pizza Inn or Domino's or Poppa John's, they might be able to deliver to the campground. We could wait to put in our orders until after we assemble and start the cocktail hour. :)

I think our group is planning to go to the restaurant attached to our hotel to avoid any more crazy cab rides as in years past. LOL
I'll still have my red back pack w/ "BuddyRoo" sign on though, so if you see me on course, say hello! Enjoy! Going to be a long day Saturday. Good fun!

Hey guys. I think the white board might be a little overkill. First we need a head count. Say 30 of us. @ 2-3 slices a piece, that would be say 8-10 medium pizzas. How about we get 3 cheese, 3 pepperoni, ! meat lovers, 1 veggie, and 1 hawaiian? Seems medium pizzas go for about $5 these days, so we're looking @ less than $75 total, even if we order more than 10 and factor in the tax. I think the easiest way to go about all this would be for someone to pony up the money up front and collect from COTHers @ the gathering. If absolutely necessary, I might be willing to place the order, pay for the order, and maybe even pick up the pizzas, though it may just be easier to have them delivered. There is a Pizza Hut 3 mi from the Horse Park. How does this sound to everyone?

Olymipcdreams04 and I were discussing this yesterday on our way to go gallop in the rain last night, and we think this is the best plan, much less complicated than a bunch of individual orders-- besides, having been the manager of a pizza place in my younger days, I can tell you that unless you call ahead with an order this large, they sometimes don't have enough dough rolled for crusts, which really ticks them off.
So if everyone agrees and promises to pay their share, I think this is the best way to go. We only have a couple more days to decide though, so we better hop to it.
