6 year old, registered (ASHA) Saddlebred gelding, bay, 15.3 hands, lighter build, with personality +++ needs a home!
The bad news: He needs training, possibly even restarting. He has always been used as a trail horse and was broke by a 15 year old. He's had issues with moving away (sideways) when mounting and bucking (either when mounting or sometimes at a canter). I lost my confidence on him when he threw me (unknown reason) and haven't ridden him since. Two other people have, but he bucked with both of them. Yes, teeth/back/feet/saddle fit, etc have been checked. The worse news: I sold him and had to rescue him back four months later (in December). He was severely underweight and had been through an auction.
The GOOD news! He's now had lots of good food/TLC, been wormed, and has been treated with antibiotics. He's healthy and ready to go! He's adorable, very pretty, active, fun, interactive and willing. He wants to be used and wants to learn. He is easy to catch, pasture kept, good for the farrier, great with other horses but always wants to play, will mug you for peppermints, gives hugs, loads and trailers like a dream. Lunges well, too.
When he was ridden he loved to jump, was gaited, and would go anywhere you pointed him. He has boundless energy and loves to lead but doesn't have to. Will go out alone or in a group. No kick, no rear, no bite, no cribbing, and completely sound. He'd make a great hunter or jumper horse, trail horse (he does shy though), practice horse (not enough action to be an ASB show horse), or companion, but his true calling is as an endurance horse.
He needs a home soon, as board $$ are getting tight (I have two other horses) and stalls are getting full where I board (for use when it's cold, etc). There's a CL ad for him in Lexington if you'd like to email through that, or message/PM me here. He is free, but a donation to Saddlebred Rescue is requested.
Please pass the word, he's too young and has too much personality to be wasted. TIA!
