I have to admit that I originally wanted a Devoucoux, but after reading that thread a couple of weeks ago about their customer servive and not hearing back from the rep for almost two months, I decided to check out BC. I contacted the rep on Thursday, she came out on Sunday and the saddle will take three weeks to arrive if I decide to go for it.
So, what can anyone tell me about the Vinici Tex Eventer? Good, bad, or just eh? Is it comperable to the Devoucoux as far a s comfort and position go? I rode in my trainer's Devoucoux Chiberta and LOVED it, so I am hoping that the BC is similar. I have super long legs- especially my thigh- and a longish torso, so saddle fit is so difficult.

I can't speak to the Tex Eventer specifically, but I ride in pharmgirl's Quantum and love love love it.
If I ever go Prelim, the Vinici Tex Eventer is going to be my present to myself.

Someone on FOL in England has a daughter who is 6' tall and rides in Black Country's. From what I understand from her, Black Country has so many options and variations that her daughter's saddles are the equivalent of custom and fit beautifully.
Sounds like Black Country can put their parts together to make saddles that will fit just about anyone.

I also have the BC Quantum and love love love the saddle. I love it more than my custom saddle that I had made for a different horse (and subsequently sold)... And the BC came off the rack and fit both of us!

I sat in one that ultimately was too big for me, but... man was it comfy!!! LIke sitting in a lazyboy!!! It was fantastic, but just a bit too big for me and a bit too wide for the horse.
LOVED it though and wish it had worked...

You and me both, FleckenAwesome :) One of our local riders had one on consignment at Rolex last year that I brought home and tried- both too big for me and for my horse, but I now know that I want one!

That is the saddle I have and it is the best saddle I've used to date. I had one custom built for me, but the stock one would have worked if it wasn't custom. I am 6'3" and all legs. I think you won't be dissappointed.

I am buying the one FLecken A rejected-- lucky me! I loved it from the moment I settled my derriere upon it. :D I have a looong thigh and the standard-flap Quantum wasn't quite forward enough for me. The Tex simulatneously feels secure and allows me complete freedom.
Can't compare it to the Dev, though, since I haven't sat in one of those.

That's what I was hoping :D. I am 5'10"+ and ALL legs. I went ahead and ordered one and it should be here is 3 weeks. I am so excited! I am getting it custom made for both me and my horse.

;) I'm partial to it since my fabulous eventer is named Tex. You could have knocked me over when I found out the saddle was the "Tex Eventer"! :D On a serious note, yes, when I have the funds I will own one myself! They are very very nice.

Hey stranger - how's it going????
I have a BC quantum which I love, but have never ridden in a Devecoux. Are you having Two Time Tack fit the saddle?
Loved your write up in the Equiery by the way!

Hey regeventer! Yes, Two Time Tack is doing the fitting. She is super nice and has been very helpful :D.
Ummmm, Equiery write up? I have to claim ignorance on that. Is there something I am missing?

I love her! She's been fitting my saddles for years.
Catalina, there's a nice glamour shot of you and your guy in February's Equiery. :)

Ha ha...born2event...that's why I LOVE and have two of the "Fleck" brand whips and crops!! It's got his name on it, of course I have to have them!!!
So...speaking of .... I think now I might end up with a BC saddle! I really liked Runforit's, but it was a bit too big, so now I'm shopping again.....
Really like the Maelstrom look...what do you guys think of it?!? Anyone ridden in one?

Just a question to those riding in the Tex Eventer, or even the Quantum -- is the seat a bit deep? I'm partial to flatter seats and have yet to sit in a Black Country but the pictures I've seen of them make me think they might be a bit deeper than my preference. But it could just be the pictures and of course I need to just try one out to see if I like it. I talked with Trumbull Mountain via e-mail and they said that the preference nowadays is people like a deeper seat for jumping. But do these BC saddles have that seat?
I'm in love with my Wintec Pro Jump but I'd like to upgrade to a leather saddle. Black Country seems like a great company so I'd like to send business their way if I happen to like their saddles. Anyways, any input would be great! Thanks!

The Tex is pretty flat-- flatter than the Quantum, which itself is not terribly deep. I usually ride in a 17.5, but the Tex I have is a 17 and is plenty roomy since the forward flap takes up my leg.

I have a Tex Eventer (as well as 14 of my clients!!) and we all LOVE them. Great saddles, great company. I highly recommend them.
I also have a Vinici Dressage saddle (so do 3 of my clients) and love that as well.

I've had BC saddles for a long time. It's nice to hear they are starting to get more of a following.
I have a BC dressage saddle, for the life of me right now i cannot remember the model- tradidtional flap. That was my first.
I mainly ride in a BC Vinci mono-flap dressage saddle with a serged underside that I, and my horses, LOVE!
I also have the BC Vinci Mono-Flap event saddle. Nikki, from BC in the UK, brought it to Rolex and it was exactly what i wanted. It had a flatter, European seat like my beloved old Nelson Pessoa A/O. She'd said that most people don't want the flatter seat. My butt heeds to get OUT of the saddle, not be stuck IN it!
I've turned many of my clients onto this saddle company. Nikki in the UK is awesome!
Cant recommend this saddle company enough!

We have a Ricochet. Custom made, serge panels (the best for the heat in Texas and comfort for the horse) sticky schrumpf seat and vintage flaps, flatter Quantum seat on the Wexford tree. My son and I love it, love it. One day I plan to get a Vinici event saddle, as my son moves up the levels that way I can have the Ricochet back!!
Can't say enough good things about Black Country.

Hey catalina and regeventer (and anyone else in MD)
I just met with Prudence and am currently trying a quantum demo. It's a nice saddle but not a forward enough flap for me to really get a feel for it and say 'love it!'
I am going to call someone Prudence put me in touch with to try her Riccochet on Friday, but was wondering if you close MD folks would allow me to try your saddle some time? I'd like to sit in more including the Tex Eventer but she doesn't have any demos available :( Wouldn't mind hauling to your farm if you don't want to let it leave or need it every day ;)
PM me if you're interested
Thanks!

inquisitive- are you the one coming to Waredaca Friday with your young 'un? I am the one with the Ricochet and the giant appaloosa :D. A barn mate also has a tex eventer monoflap that if we asked nicely might let you check that out as well while you are here ;).
I also have a quantum with forward flaps that I am trying to sell b/c said giant appy could not wear it (it was purchased when I leased a TB, and the quantum tree does.not.fit.at.all on the giant boy). It's I think an 18 inch seat with an inch or 1 1/2 inches more in the flap, so if anyone with long legs in MD wants to check the quantum out let me know.

I apparently need to sit in the Tex eventer again. Friend had one on trial and I thought it was hard as a rock seat wise... and I'm almost positive that's what it was.. the vinci monoflap tex eventer to be exact. Another friend at the barn has a black country, unsure of the model, but it's pretty nice and comfy (although is a wide tree and definitely seat wise sits way wider than my devoucoux!).

I tried out (and bought ;)) a Quantum. I had heard that the Tex Eventer was more forward and thought I wouldn't be happy with the Quantum (after talking with Trumbull Mountain). Boy was I wrong! It is PLENTY forward. When I put my stirrup leathers on and sat in it, I thought I had my stirrups at dressage length with the way my knee was sitting on the flap. Nope, it's just plenty forward (and this is a normal flap). So I wouldn't neccessarily discount a Quantum, if you haven't tried one. I too found that it runs a tad wide, but not overly so. I love the Quantum and am never going to be able to give this saddle up. :)

Unless the Quantum I tried had a straight flap (will ask Prudence) it was wayyyy not forward enough :) I have a freakishly long femur as many on here have said they do too!

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in about Black Country.
Bought a Wexford in February (arrived late March). I LOVE this saddle. So comfy and it fits my boy well when nothing else did.
Now I've got a new girl and (based on pics) it's looking like the Summit might work for her. Just have to send tracings to confirm.

Hm, I really don't think my Quantum has a forward flap. I was very afraid it wouldn't be forward enough with how it looked but it even fits my tall friend too. I dunno! ;) I guess it's just what works for you.
And that same tall friend bought a Wexford and BOY does that look comfy!
