My not-computer-savvy barn owner has asked me to put some feelers out for a couple of little guys to babysit two of our boarded horses. We're looking for minis (prefer) or small ponies - geldings only. Soundness isn't important, though the horse's comfort level is - no one is going to be riding them, but they need to be comfortable enough to get around. Affable guys who get along easily a must. Nothing crazy or dangerous, please - they're supposed to be a positive influence, not little fuzzy devils telling our already nervy horses to do evil deeds.
We offer a huge farm, lots of pasture space, expert care, routine vet and farrier work - basically, equine heaven. More information upon request. We're looking for the right set of little guys to need a space to go, so if anyone has any suggestions, that'd be dandy as well. Thanks!

A little bump for the Monday crowd, just in case someone knows of a little guy in need of a pasture home.

Minis/ponies and lots of pasture are NOT a good combination.
You may just want to consider a quiet older horse or 2 that needs a home.

Another good option may be a donkey or miniature donkey. They are much hardier than mini horses and ponies as far as pasture is concerned. Standard donkeys can be found free on CL quite often.
Good luck in your search.

The dynamics of little tiny animals and pasture is something we're very well versed with, and are well-equipped with little, tiny grazing muzzles and dry lots to rotate into at night.
We are not interested in full-size horses. Barn owner doesn't want donkeys on the property. We're really holding out for minis/ponies - 900 years old and yak-like quite fine. Just waiting for a couple of little guys who have maybe done their time as schoolies and now need a nice home with expert care and a little bit of fawning over.

Hello, Is Louisville, Kentucky too far for you? We have a little guy just put into our care, he is not registered and we really have no need for him but offered to find him a good home. He's I believe a smutty buckskin color with some appy characteristics (mottling) he looks about 33" and is 4 years old. His body condition looks great although he's overdue for a trim and our farrier is scheduled to come out as soon as he's available. I've been told he's been on a regular worming schedule and since he's been here he's been fine. Please let me know if you might be interested.

Can you pm me your email address or phone number? I have a good friend here in Tn needing to place an adorable pony that she rescued. He is all fixed up now and ready for a new home, and she is running out of time placing him. I will also send a pm. Thank you

Hi again! Thanks for the responses. Coppertone, that might be a bit far - I'd be the one picking anyone up, and I won't have time for that much of a trek for several months... bummer. Thanks for the thought, though. Equislover, I got your PM and sent you one back.
Thanks!

Chances Miniature Horse Rescue? They have horses all over the country that need homes, they do great work. They did have some available in Tn, not exactly sure where though.

I know of a PERFECT pony for you, and he can be delivered to East TN! I am just south of Nashville and am helping the barn owner where I board my horse and kids' pony find a quality forever home for a 16 yr old ADORABLE Hackney pony.
She originally saved him from a man who was getting ready to send him to slaughter, even though he said his 3 grandkids rode him. He was overweight and had a touch of founder, but is now perfectly sound and barefoot. He also had a horrible infection in his left eye, and she had the eye removed. She was hoping he would be a suitable leadline pony for her 4 yr old, but he is a little too spunky for that.
He is currently turned out with 3 horses (QH, and 2 Appendix) and is low man on the totem pole. He is the perfect companion pony, totally catchable, and sweet. He will need to have his weight monitored, but it sounds like you not only have ample knowledge but also are set up to handle pony diets. :) He is a very easy keeper and just needs to find a suitable home to happily live out the rest of his days.
I brought him in the other day, groomed him, clipped him, lunged him, and took a few pictures.

I can also send a short video I took of him lunging, if you want.
He MUST find a home by April 1st! SO if you don't think he's right for you, any other suggestions from anyone are welcome!

BHSinTN is referring to the pony I had sent you a PM on in case you get confused ;) I did provide the owner with your email address and she may have already contacted you. If he is not appropriate for your situation perhaps someone else on this board is looking for a cutie?

I could possibly be interested in Wilbur.
Would he be appropriate for a 6 year old? I saw that you said he was a little too spunky for a leadline pony. We have our horses at home and I need something for my son to ride starting out on the longeline. We are in North Mississippi, could he be delivered here? Anything else you could tell me about him would be great.
Also, how is he on the ground?

I spoke with my friend and confirmed he would not be suitable for a 6 year old child. Thank you for asking though.
