I need fitted saddle pads for my Devoucoux Chiberta (a regular 2 flap) because square pads hang down too low for my short leg.
Any suggestions on a pad that will fit well around the edges of the saddle and flap? I tried one fitted pad that was not forward enough and slipped behind the flap.
Thanks~

Devoucoux makes a pad just for the Chiberta. It is listed on their website.

I looked at devoucoux.com and could only find the "anatomical saddle pad" which looks more like a wither relief pad and not a full saddle pad. I must be missing something?

I just had the Ecogold rep, Pam, out, looking for the perfect pad for my Chiberta and a couple other saddles. I tried the pad they make for Devocoux, which they used to call the Chiberta pad - but it is more or less sqaure, and wasn't just perfect.
Ended up getting their hunter pad, in the small size - it is shaped, outlined in white synthetic fleece, and is quite non-slip. It fits my Chiberta, another monoflap jump saddle I have, and amazingly, it fits decently under a dressage saddle, too. I don't know how it does all that, but I'm happy!
They have a 30 day use it and return it well used if you're not happy plan, PM me and I'll look for Pam's # if you want. Tell her you want what Jeannette in Durham just got and if I've missed any adjectives descibing which pad it is, that should steer you to the right one.
They are pricey, but being able to use it on a bunch of horses, with a variety of different paddings and saddles, it is earning it's keep so far!

I have seen them used and they are quite good looking under the saddle.

I saw that pad on the website when I was looking for a pad to help the saddle keep from slipping, but I notice there are no size options. In my case I worry because my flaps were done for my short legs so I wonder if that pad would work under an 18" seat with short flaps.

I sent Jeannette a PM to see if the pad she talked about is the one on the Devoucoux Web site. I may try and order one to see if it fits (can always send it back).

flaxen - I started with that pad - and got a bunch of compliments on it being cool looking. Ended up deciding to trade it for another pad, though.
When I put a half pad on top of the Chiberta pad, the ssticky material under the thigh area stuck out a bit in front. On the Chiberta pad I had, the sticky material was black, and I thought it looked sloppy. I frankly have a hard enough time looking spiffy without having to work against my pad.:D
I'll check Ecogold's site now since it's raining and see what they call the pad I got - it is truly fitted, like a traditional fuzzy pad shaped like a saddle, so it's miraculous to me that it works well with my Chiberta saddle, my Stackhouse which is a little less forward flapped, and my dressage saddle. Weird but true. The non-slippiness is a wonderful thing.

Must have gotten the forward flap hunter pad - and I'll have to measure to see what size I got - medium or large, must have been.

We use Seams Right pads at my place and they are WONDERFUL!! A little slow on the delivery process (2-4weeks) but can make anything you want and at a great price!

In the heat of the summer I use just a half pad under mine. In winter I use a half pad with a fairly stiff baby pad that isn't too big. It stays in place just fine and doesn't interfere with my leg. I'm 4'11".

I use a Fleeceworks close contact pad in a length (down horse's back) that is long enough to accommodate my large seat saddle (which accommodates my, err, leg).

hi,
I work for ECOGOLD and we make pads specially for the Chiberta (2 sizes: Chiberta standard and Chiberta large) and also for the IOLDI saddle. We have special patterns for those saddles, but they are not on the website so please call 1-866-432-6465 if you are interested.

Gulp, nearly $200. I bought it from the Phillip D. Devoucoux site although the actual pad has an EcoGold tag on it. It is perfectly fitted to the Chiberta, though a teeny tiny bit longer below the flap than I would like for my short leg. They have two sizes depending on your saddle's seat size. My saddle is a 17". The sticky area under the saddle is creme-colored. I have not tried my half-pad under it -- my saddle fitter doesn't like it anyway as she thinks it's too much bulk.
I've never spent that much on a pad but now I wish I could afford 10 of them so I could use it everyday! It is the only pad I've tried that a) does not slip back and b) fits the Chiberta. Now I have to try and keep it clean, which means rationing it!
I "economized" the purchase by thinking of the gagillion times I've spent $20-$40 on everyday schooling pads that end up slipping and shrinking in the wash. Of course I'll have to wash the Chiberta pad like it's fine lingerie (which I don't do with the few nice bras I have, which is why they are ratty as hell).
