Trying to buy one online (my local tack store doesn't carry much in the way of show clothes) and wondering how they run fit wise?

I have one that [the] size said 10/16. I THOUGHT that meant coat size / regular size.
What that ACTUALLY means is that it fits like a street size 8/10. I guess the "16" is irrelevant. Just my two cents.

My daughter has one in a 4 slim. It fits the same as her size 8 reg. in her Grand Prix jacket and as the 0 slim/short in her RJ Classic. These are all ladies sizes. She really loves her TS jacket. It's her solid navy standby and has held up very well for over a year.

I wear "street size" 8 and almost always get a size 14 in hunt coats (Grand Prix etc.) I wear an 8/14 in the Tailored Sportsman coats, though the fit is a bit roomier/boxier than the Grand Prix and overall doesn't suit me quite a well. I think the idea with the sizing was that the 8/14 is a "street size" 8, "hunt coat/euro sizing" 14-- but your mileage may vary based on body shape.

I have one and I absolutely LOVE it...I would even consider wearing to work lol!! Mine is a size 6 regular and fits better than anything I have ever tried on (to give you some perspective I have a 26" waist with a short torso - especially when compared to my legs! - and fairly long arms).
I tried all of the Grand Prix jackets and NONE of them fit correctly. I finally came across the TS jacket and fit everywhere - the SA that was helping me couldn't believe it after spending at least 30 minutes with me trying on jackets. I certainly wasn't complaining when I found the TS because it was about half the price of the GP jackets.
Here is a pic of my jacket (the bottom button popped off because I got it caught in some of the horse's tack when I was tacking him up. You also can't see it, but that jacket does have a purple/lighter blue windowpane)

And to get an idea of how I am "built":

I found that I really had to go down in size for the TS-- I wear a 14R slim cut in Grand Prix and I went with a 6R in the TS. I had originally ordered an 8R in TS, as that is the one that measurement-wise looked right, but it was too big.

I love mine. Fits so much better than the GPs. The only thing that's odd about the sizing is that they come in slim and regular. If you have a waist, go for the slim. The regulars are cut more straight up and down. Other than that, they are pretty true to street clothes size. I generally wear a 6 or 8 in a suit jacket, and the 6s TS jacket is perfect.

Mods, et al:
Sorry, didn't think about the advertising link.... I had just copied my post from another board, which does advertise, and then went to lunch. Thanks for editing for me.

I don't really have a comment about the sizing except to say that I LOVE the way my TS fits. I used to always get RJs and they always had to be altered in so many ways, but my TS, I don't think I altered it at all.
The fabric is very comfortable, and to me it feels like it has a bit more "give" than other coats I've tried on.

Sorry to Hijack but..
If I were a 2 long in RJ and 10 long in grand prix what would I be in tailored sportsman?

i tried one on the other day, and sure, i'm skinny and stuff, but i'm short. i find that they are made for very tall and flat and skinny girls. my shoulders are a little wider, and while the coat still fit, it was a bit tighter in the shoulders than i would be comfortable jumping in.

Really? I am short (5'0...maybe on a good day?) and I have wide shoulders/large bust and I LOVE the fit of my TS jacket. Maybe because I need a bigger size to accommodate my shoulders anyway it wasn't an issue?
