Can anyone recommend an on-demand hot water heater that wouldn't break the bank? I would mainly be using it for occasional bathing.

There are several threads on this topic recently--the name of the one we have escapes me but it's on those threads. :) They are wonderful.

www.tanklesswaterheaterguide.com is helpful.

We have been saving for this one.

STGa, don't pay the equestrian markup! Those things are available at hunting/camping suppliers for a fraction of the cost.

Maybe there has been a reason I am still saving, I will look and maybe I have enough now, Thanks

Why do you want to heat hot water? Isn't it already hot?

Here you go. I recommend the EX 75 or EX 95. Both take 240V. You cannot heat above 1/2 gallon per minute flow rate with anything that only takes 120V (a normal elec. circuit).

Ira Woods Wholesale Plumbing on the internet (google it) has good prices on these - around $200. You will need a plumber. Hope this iw what you meant, not just a hot tank.

Edited to say: These units are for ONE warm water horse washing hose, not to replace a hot water heater for a whole building.

We got a Stiebel Eltron Tempra 24 from Plumberscrib.com (the cheapest we could find online). We LOVE it!!!! The only downside to the tankless water heaters is that they pull a lot of amperage, so you definitely need to plan for them. They are hard to install after you have everything built due to the amperage- that's why you don't see folks add them to their houses after the house is already built. We had a 200 amp panel built into our barn to handle the water heater, ceiling fans in 4 stalls, and lights.

Ah, Stiebel, that's the brand we have, too. Thanks to my gearhead hubby, our barn was built with a 200 amp service, too. More than enough for hot water and then some!

I have a Stiebel, too.

Note to folks interested in these - mine is electric and required a 50amp circuit and heavy wiring.
