One is kept in the hay loft so it is easily accessible for emergencies and the other is parked on a gravel pad, blocked by a snowbank!

I live in Michigan and keep mine parked outside. When it snows, I only need to dig out the wheel tracks and a little bit to the left and right of the wheels to pull it out. I've driven mine four or five times in the last two months.

As for weight distribution, it depends on how heavy the trailer is. A weight distribution hitch is almost never a bad idea, but depending on the weight, it could be overkill.

Coppe: In the hay loft?

Mine is behind a good 5' of snowbank right now.

Past several winters I've managed to keep it freed up in case of need. This is my first year with a plow. I suck at it. Trailer is now a hostage until some melting occurs, or I find someone with large equipment (right... :uhoh: )

I will move it next fall, to a different spot. It's more about having the room to put the snow, really.

In one of the "bays" of the run in just off the paddock of the barn (did that make sense?)

It now stays there unless I need it that day. Had not brought it out all winter. Brought it out one time couple of months ago (hubby got it out for me JIC I needed it while he was out of town for weekend). I ended up not needing it but told hubby to leave it out as I was taking horse for checkup the following weekend. He said he would like to put it up and would be happy to take it back out in a couple of days. Of course I argued with him and he left it out. Well damn if a tree did not fall on the darn thing several days later . Yeah, that was a tough pill to swallow.

Mine is on it's driveway and I have dutifully snow-blowed the snow from in front of it all winter - just in case.

My fear is not in taking it out on the ice-covered roads (they are encased in what I call glaciers) ... but in trying to back it up the driveway from my narrow dirt road - and up the short, steep, entrance to my driveway that is also encased in glacier snow & ice. There's about 20 feet of nastiness that I would dread - even with 4WD because it's a 3H GN with 4' shortwall. Just long enough to be tricky.

In the summer I can pull in if necessary and turn it around in the upper pasture, but with still 10" of snow on the ground - that's not possible.

Pinto: we have a BIG bank barn so easy access for haywagons, bedding delivery and parking of trailer. At the end of show season I wash the trailer inside and out, clean the tack room well, take out all liquids and back it in. We keep the doors and frive free of snow so we can get it out easily in case of emergency/

Oh, trailers. I first read it as trainers and I was like EEEKKK what do poeple lock 'em in the basement sometimes? Or maybe they were like yeah, I send mine south for the winter so I get a break?

My trailer is where it always is, parked by the barn. But we are southern enough that if trailer is snowed in, it's the least of our problems. That sort of snow around here shuts us all down completely! LOL!

A good friend allows me to store it in his large barn, which is conveniently located next to where I board. His drive is plowed each time it snows, so I'm able to access my trailer if need be.

We keep both of our trailers by the barn area year round. In the winter we don't use the LQ unless it is an emergency and the stock trailer is already being used. We use the stock trailer regularly during the winter. We keep both clear of snow so that we can get them out in an emergency. Would love to have a barn or shelter to keep them in but no such luck.

Mine's in my haybarn, right beside the little horsebox and the big horsebox. Ugh, I have more transport than I do horses.

Wellllll, I WANT to keep mine in the barn, but due to my son's 'project' car taking the spot (over 2 years now!!), I have to park it in the indoor. Naturally, it's totally in the way.

I pulled it out the back door over the weekend to do some trailer loading refreshing, forgot it was out, and opened the gate for the horses. DH discovered later that day that 'someone' had chewed on the truck hood (2yr old truck). He was NOT pleased.

A firm deadline has now been set for project completion.
