I went to dinner saturday night with a boarder and she said " I have something for you to read". It was the Chronicles of the $700 Pony!!!
I finished the whole thing already. It feels so good to really laugh at something! Anybody needing a pick me up needs to get this book.
Now, isn't there another one? Already out or coming?
I need all the laughs I can get!
Thanks Reynard Ridge :D

The Further Adventures of the $700 pony was published in the fall...go get a copy...it's equally entertaining.
I gave a couple as Christmas gifts and they were well received.

I just finished reading the book too! OMG, it is such a piece of work. I especially love the humming of, "If you're happy and you know it," at the show. I have 2 co-workers who hum/sing random stuff all the time and don't realize they're doing it. The co-worker who has kids has been known to hum the sesame street theme:)

I forgot she had a second book out. Now I'm off to buy that!

RR's blog of her family's travels in China, while not horse-related, is a fun read. Often good for a laugh and very educational. I want to meet her kids in 20 years when they're grown up, they should turn out to be exceptional individuals.

Anyone want to remind the rest of us where we can get the book?

I bought the original at a booth at EA... but then I bought the sequel and another copy of the original as a gift directly from the publisher, Half Halt Press. They were very quick with shipping and very nice to work with. (:

Both $700 pony books can be purchased either directly from her publisher, Half Halt Press, at http://www.halfhaltpress.com/ or from Amazon.

RR's absolutely delightful, fascinating China blog is at
http://www.blithetraveler.typepad.com/
Today's entry is about the huge & artistic snow sculptures in Harbin where they recently visited. (ok, the snow might be of more interest to me in CA than to most of you living in other parts of the US.) You can easily navigate back thru earlier entries.

and, to answer the obvious question, the $700 pony did not go to China with them. She's vacationing with some friends during RR's absence.

Yes, her children are growing up to be flexible world travelers.

I got both books for Christmas (put them on my Amazon "wish list"), and loved them so much that I read both of the books twice.

I had not read either of them, so I bought both for my mom for Xmas. I told her when she was done with them to give them back!! I have now read both. My mom and I both loved them!!!

Are the $700 pony books appropriate for a 10 year old girl to read?

She does keep it very PG, but some of the humor may be over a kiddo's head.

The first one is a great read, esp the whole scenario with buying the pony- the husband's reaction is priceless and i must admit - very similar to the situation I found myself in with an 8 wk old baby when I told my husband i was just going to go and look at the nice cheap GRAY pony for sale- she came home a few days later - since has been sold to a mom with 4 kids - she needed another pony for the latest addition to her human family.....ponies are simply an addiction!

Just want to add... I just finished "Further Adventures" last night and enjoyed it more than the first one. A wonderful read, and I, too, laughed out loud so many times. My husband even wondered what on earth I was doing. I could really relate to the Plexiglass backsplash in the bathroom... ours was dry erase board!

Anyway, well done Reynard Ridge! I am now, officially, a Huge Fan.:)
