Well there's the Parelli Marketing Spin for ya...we can't actually ride in a correct position so we'll tell everyone else that right now = wrong and we're the ONLY people on earth doing it right. Yeah, yeah...that's it...that's the ticket!
So $4000 for a saddle and $440 for the pad that goes with that saddle huh? Expected no less from the Parellis.
And yeah...the horse "approves" of the saddle...I can tell by his ears. ;)

Once I get mine, I'm going to try the heels up, shoulders forward thing on cross country!!!!

I THINK I rode like that in my first schooling session 5 weeks after my first C - section. My mentor made me dismount and put my horse up so I would not damage his back! I was instructed to "tone up" and flex for a week before I mounted up again! My muscle tone was shot from pregnancy and surgery so I know I was hunched and floppy and braced on my feet!
Has she been ill? You'd think she'd wait until she felt better to get a proper picture!

Okay, I looked at the english saddle (and why do they insist on putting "english" in quotes on their site?) because I couldn't figure out if you were supposed to jump or do dressage in that thing. I didn't look like you could do either.
That's when I found this drivel...
Normally, people choose a saddle style to suit their activity or focus: dressage, jumping, general purpose, which can be problematic when it comes to developing total horsemanship skills.
The Parelli Fluidity Saddle is a general purpose shape (between dressage and jumping) which totally suits the focus of Parelli Natural Horsemanship program. It affords the rider comfort for everything from flat work, to collection, to jumping, to up and down hills, etc. etc.
Sorry. I'm not about to jump in that thing! No matter how many etc.'s they put at the end of their shpiel!

I enjoy the testimony regarding the English saddle:
"Hello Parelli Collection! I just wanted to tell you guys what I think of my new Fluidity saddle. I've heard a lot of people being rather negative about the impatience or needing to wait for the beautiful saddle. I wanted to make sure you received some positive feedback!! When I first got my saddle I thought it would take me some time to get used to riding in it because the Fluidity saddle is so different from my other saddle. But I was more wrong then I could've imagined! Up in this angelic saddle I felt like I was bareback. I felt ease that I've never felt in a saddle! I have the ability and comfort of being right on my balance point! I feel like I have so much more control over my own body. The stability is wonderful! The comfort! The beauty! My heavens!!! It's so fantastic!! But not only for me. . . I knew I bought this saddle for my horse's well being but that the saddle would so quickly help him out? After only a couple rides, I never thought the physical changes would happen so quickly!! My horse is developing and changing! He's a half inch more uphill!! His stride has become more fluid and graceful! He can change bends and move much more athletically in this saddle. He isn't afraid to bring his back up underneath me any more and helps me out by being so much more balanced in his own body. It's truly an angelic blessing to have this saddle!! I look forward to a lifetime of riding with it. Now I don't have any worries when I put my saddle on my horse's back!! Enthusiastically, Meg, Level 3 student"

I really am in disbelief over these people, the Parelli's and the clients. The Parelli's are modern time snake oil salesmen, I am so amazed that normally intelligent people throw SO MUCH MONEY at [them]!
I just need to sit down and figure out what gimmick would make me rich like that. But I don't want to go as far as they are going, after all I do have a conscious, unlike the Parelli's. I would stop at the DVD's and carrot stick and bareback pad (It IS a nice bareback pad, but I wont spend the money on it.)

Parelli Inside? Yea sucking up your cash.
No kiddin'. A friend of mine is trying to get her boarding business going and so she hosted a Parelli clinic recently. Yeah, I know. But like it or not, they really do appeal to middle-aged women who just got their first horses and now have no idea what to do with them. Linda may not sit a horse very well, but geezus crispies she can identify a well-heeled niche in the horse market.
The clinician hooked her large horse trailer/camper to the house current and never offered to help with the increased electric bill. Plus she refused to pay board because there weren't the required number of clinic participants. Cheapskate. Sheesh.

Horse TV needs a Behind the Music style show in the worst way. We could call it "Behind the Barn: what that trainer really spent all your money on". At this point I assume the Parellis spend a good deal of their time deciding whether to bejewel the entire living room set with Swarovski crystal or just the bits people can see. One Ferrari or two? Identical mink robes or his'n'hers?
It will be educational- after all, if my parents had realized there was this kind of money in riding with poor posture I feel sure they would have bought me that junior jumper I wanted.

Ally with the HSUS should not sound sinister, but it seems a puzzler.
Here is their release about what they are doing:
---"A Special Invitation
Last fall, The Humane Society of the United States contacted Volunteer Equine Advocates to invite them to participate in a special relationship with The HSUS and world-renowned natural horsemanship trainers Pat and Linda Parelli. Through this joint venture, The HSUS works closely with local equine rescues to bring a rescue horse to work with Pat Parelli at Parelli Natural Horsemanship's educational "Celebration of Horses" events.
Beau is the first rescue horse to be trained in this partnership program. Working over a three day period, Pat will teach Beau how to overcome his fears and regain trust in people using humane natural horsemanship techniques. After the training period, Beau will be available for adoption through VEA to an approved home.
The HSUS-Parelli partnership is designed to raise awareness among the horse community about the plight of rescued horses everywhere, and to highlight the trainability of these resilient, forgiving animals. The goals are to give horsemen and women a understanding of the advantages of adopting a rescued horse, while bringing well-deserved attention to those dedicated to saving the lives of rescued horses.
The HSUS works closely with each participating rescue to choose the perfect candidate for each Celebration. "We had hoped Beau would be chosen, after all he's been through," said Clifton. "We are excited beyond belief that Pat Parelli himself is going to invest in Beau's future. We can't wait to be there and see it for ourselves!"---

All four of us were in the ring minus said appendages and riding just like Linda within the hour.........and as an added bonus, our britches fit better!

heck no...on this website you can buy a very high quality custom show saddle for about $4,500. http://www.blueribbontack.com/saddles13.html
they do have some for $13,000- but again custom made show saddles- this is about as top of the line as you get, and they have sterling silver on them and tooling which is difficult to do...not like that ugly flap of leather thing

I went to one Parelli clinic and from what I saw with the man working a poor gelding for 2 1/2 hours until he did what the man wanted, I had enough.
I didn't go back for the part 2.
The poor horse did what he did out of sheer exaustion . I'd do anything too, just to get relief.
This fellow and several others doing the same kinds of "Clinics", all graduated from the same college.
They can sell an Eskimo a freezer, I'll bet. The little rope he sells in his "Kit" you can buy from the local hardware store for 1/10th the cost. But it doesn't have the Parellie "Magic" in it.
I have seen some middle aged women and men, who fell for his pitch, hook, line and sinker.
I never worked my young horses more than 1/2 an hour at a time.
A tired out horse doesn't learn anything constructive after that.
But that is just my own humble opinion.
Cheers,

I just love the quote below the English saddle:
"for those who love to ride "English""....wtf is that supposed to mean??
There's a sucker born every minute, and these two are reveling in that fact.

If I were ever going to spend $4000 on a saddle...it would be one of those super-blinged-cool-as-hell parade saddles like Bludejavu on here collects! (although I don't think you can buy those new for anywhere near that price, LOL)

And you know, in theses trying economic times here in the USA, why are they having the saddles made in Germany?
Especially the Western saddles - had no idea the Germans were experts on those... ;)
Surely there are capable craftsman in the States... or maybe they couldn't find any that wanted to be associated with the Pepperoni name...?

Remember than in business, even bad publicity can be good for business.
How many would have ever heard of their new product lines without the controversy?
If all this talk brings a few more sales, with those prices, who cares that some bash it?

By Steele. Here's the link to the "Equiflex" saddle tree, which is what the Parelli site says is "inside" the saddle - besides Parelli, that is.
http://www.steelesaddletreellc.com/equi-flex.html
I don't see how this is new or different - flex tree saddles have been around for years now.
I wouldn't use one - don't think they're a good idea. And I'm not trying to start a debate on flex trees - just pointing out that really the Parellis should say that's what kind of saddle this is. But I guess that would deprive it of the mystery.
Maybe if you give them your info and get the DVD they finally tell you it's a flex tree?

Though they certainly make it inviting, please ease up on the "innuendo"... We had to remove some moustache references.
Thanks!
