I've seen him in person at the BWP inspections and he's a lovely type with very nice gaits. He also seems to be quite the gentleman, as he was quite well behaved despite being surrounded by mares and foals.

Anyone see what he is producing? or best mare matches for him?

I think he's only had one breeding season so far. If Ronda (Rising Star Farm) sees this, she'll have a lot more knowledge.

Sonntagskind has been bred to a variety of mares (TBs and WBs) and passes on his typey looks, great movement and wonderful character fairly reliably. We are breeding him to my big Contucci mare this year and I expect a superstar from the cross.

I would be interested to hear more as well. Someone just yesterday asked my opinion of this stallion, and I'd never heard of him. I wasn't overly impressed with his website, but he had a nice ad in the Sporthorse directory, which mentions foals crops from 2007 and 2008.

Sonntagskind and my stallion, Deja Blue B, are leaving on Wednesday for the RPSI 30 dt. I'm sure there will be lots of information about all of the boys from that test, which wraps up March 7th (or so).

He's a doll! Quite impressive.
Last weekend at the dressage show he created quite a stir. Great scores and wowed the spectators.

I have the Oct 2007 filly, Hannah Lyn out of my Weltmeyer mare, Weltlyn. I was a little concerned because there would be a doubling up of the Donnerwetter (Weltlyn's damsire and Sonntag's damgrandsire) I have to say that I am thrilled with the outcome. Her dispostion is very soft and sweet. She floats and bounces off the ground when she trots. I got the only red that year, but there was a 75% chance of a red. Hannah looks like a red Sonntag. I saw him grow up as foal and his daughter looks and acts very much like he did as a baby. I am thinking that she will be my riding horse replacement for Weltlyn when she gets older. (Weltlyn will be 12 this spring)

I have had the pleasure of knowing Sonntag since he was a foal. He is a truly elegant horse with an unbeatable disposition. I have ridden him several times and he is extremely rideable with big (but comforable!) gaits and a very willing attitude. He has been crossed a variety of mares and all of his foals so far have been BWP premium and RPSI Gold Premium. His 2007 colt, High Roller, out of a Lortzing mare is being kept as a possible stallion prospect. 2007 filly, Heaven Sent, was tied for 2nd in the national BWP inspection standings for fillies. High Roller's full 2008 sister, Star Charmer, was Gold Premium RPSI. Pretty impressive results with so few foals on the ground. All of his foals are very modern with great walks and wonderful temperaments (and typically quite leggy!) I myself am expecting a Sonntag foal out of my trakehner mare in March and I couldn't be more excited! I'm just praying for a filly so I have an excuse to keep it! ;-) I will be breeding my hanoverian mare to him this spring for a 2010 foal. I believe Sonntag will be taken for AHS, GOV, ISR/OLD, Dutch, and holsteiner approvals this year. He will also be competing in the FEI 5 year old classes.

I see this guy is being marketed as a dressage stallion, and his pedigree of course is full of dressage sires. But... can he jump? Are all of his foals headed down the dressage path, or are there any hunter/jumpers in the making?
I saw his ad in the Sporthorse Directory, and I like the look of his foals.
Just curious. I'm looking for a match for a mare and he's right down the road from me. Wondering if he might be worth having a look.

Check out the results of the 30dt - final test days are March 6th and 7th. Sonntagskind is one of the stallions in the test. I expect that he will do quite well as he is a wonderful boy!

Next week, I'll post the link to the live feed for the final two days of the test, so everyone can see him (and the other stallions) first hand.

His jump did not show well at his 3 year old inspection, but I think that was largely due to some extenuating circumstances that were no fault of his or his owner. She was not able to run him through the jump chute in advance at all, and he actually did OK for a horse that had not really been asked to jump before. His gaits were obviously exceptional, though, so the inspectors emphasized his suitability as a dressage horse.

The part that was funny is she told me in the warm up, that she just started 2nd level work 2 weeks before that at a clinic.
The judges loved him and you cant ask for a better mannered young stallion.
She was standing at the stalls on him talking to me and 3 girls on mares walked up right next to him to talk to us too and he never batted and eye. I watched Lucy slightly tighten her reins on him, but other than that, he never even blinked wrong! Such a good boy.
As for Sonntag, I have seen him in several stages of him growing up and he is a very refined elegant type of stallion. He is all of 17h now I would guess and very beautiful to watch in all his gaits.
I talked to Lucy last week and after the 30DT her plans are to take him GOV, so he is def. on our breeding program now.
