She is a imported mare with german hano papers. She is 17.1 and heavy built
I would like to breed for a grand prix class jumper. Her bloodlines are
Sire:Feiner Graf, by werther and gavotte by graphit
Dam:Windy, by wapiti and peggy by pik junge
I need something that will refine her and give me more of a modern day look.
I am wondering if I need to breed to a hol. to maybe have a better chance at a grand prix class jumper. From what I have seen there seems to be a lot more hol blood at that level of jumpers than hanoverians.
Thanks for any help that you might be able to give me.
what do you think of the horse Domiro?
Should I use a state stud?

Frozen semen - Calido I

Fresh semen - Vallado - the Hanoverian Verband stands Vallado's sire and 3 brothers (Uccello, Toronto, and Valentino) as jumper improvement sires.

I think a stallion with a good dose of blood would be good; by pedigree she's approx 1/8th TB (http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/fein+wind). I love Coconut Grove.. or maybe someone 1/2 TB like Lotus T or the like.

Aspen, do you have any pictures you could post of her? Just copy and paste a link to a picture from any of the picture hosting sites or your website if you have one (you can't directly upload them to the board without a premium membership). Is there anything about her conformation that needs improving?

Contendro 1 !!

I have the same kind of mare, and that is who she is going to this year (she is somewhat jumper bred but I am looking to make a dressage foal).

I am also wondering what kind of luck I would have with frozen semen?
This mare is 15 this year.
And should I go with a horse I can get cooled semen from?

If the mare is 15 this year and has never been bred, definitely go with fresh cooled semen of excellent quality.

I really love this guy http://www.valleluva.com/staron_eng.asp the owner has a great set of stallions and loves her horses. The shipping would be a pain and expensive, but he really is a super stallion.

I would suggest if you are in North America you might consider the availability of elite Hanoverian stallion Raffaello (Raphael-Foxhunter-Don Juan) lifetime approved for the Verband and AHS as well as five other registries and selected for the Hanoverian Jumper Breeding Program. He is proven performer in jumper, hunter and currently in dressage and ships excellant quality fresh semen (frozen available) throughout the year.
For your brief consideration Raffaello in sport and production;

FYI, I did find an old sale add of this mare with a little picture (I added it to her allbreedspedigree page). This is not a maiden mare, but I think she's been open for a while.

I'd suggest a breeding soundness exam before buying any semen. :)

Have you considered Pablo? I love the 2 colts I got from him out of an older style, big Hanoverian mare. Fabulous movers both of them with really intelligent temperments. Very inquisitive & easy. Real people lovers. Check their pics out on my site. Pablo put a more modern look on them both but they still have tremendous bone & substance.
I belive Pablo has more GP winners in North America than any other stallion standing unless someone has recently broken his record. His semen is great & his owner Edgar is great to work with. Really nice.

Special Memories is in the AHS jumper breeding program and he has the blood you might be looking for. By Olympic silver medalist Abdullah out of the same TB dam as the Olympic gold medalist Touch of Class. Special Memories was a successful GP jumper. Fresh semen is available.

One of my mares, is quite heavy, big boned. She is 16.3, although she looks taller and a retired GP jumper. We bred her to Aslan and definately got some modernization, but still keeping her jump (possibly adding more?) and adding more great movement too.

Here is Aslan's page: http://www.jumpstartfarm.com/Default.asp?Page=110

Here is my mare: http://s283.photobucket.com/albums/kk320/winsmorefarm/Dorina%20H/?albumview=slideshow

Here is my colt: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2d8c7jRA2pY

My colt has already jumped our five foot fence twice - once when he was around 4.5 months and then again around six months old.

Just saw this. Ditto talloaks -- go with fresh and make sure the contract has a live foal guarantee.

What about a TB?

Of course I thought Thoroughbred too!
A Fine Romance offspring are known to have superb jumping ability. He has sired one winning Grand Prix jumper (from his 2nd crop) - Southbound - a full TB.

Wow, Raffaello and his offspring and looking fabulous! As one who has had a Raffaello offspring and trying to get another, I can testify to the outstanding service and excellent quality semen from Lisa and her stallion.
