:o
Mares 1, me 0.
A mare started foaling this morning and one of the guys had asked me to call him "no matter what." So I got him on the phone and told him which mare and then put the phone in my pocket and entered the stall to assist. The shoulders passed and I broke the sac. The amniotic fluid stayed on top of the sac in a little puddle, rather than disperse over the stall floor.
Out slides my phone, still connected no less, right into the puddle. So I'm staring at the lit screen through the murky yellow-brown fluid. I grabbed it with one hand and threw it over to the door. Foal was delivered with no trouble.
The guy missed the birth but helped with stall cleaning. After the foal had been toweled, navel sterilized, etc., I told him about my phone. We turned to look at it and as we did so, the light petered out till the screen went dark. Phone is out of commission.
Can't believe I did that. I have to laugh, but a new phone isn't really in the budget this month.
