Who here has photos of their Pablo offspring (especially more grown up ones)? I have a Pablo filly (2007) out of my foundation mare who I love very much, but I would love to see photos of other Pablo offspring, especially those that are older than mine. Although she is only 2 years old, I am already thinking about who I will breed her too (but not until she is 3 or 4 years old).
Anyone free jumped their Pablo's yet or started under saddle? How did they do? What are the temperments and/or rideability like? What about their gaits? What do you think he improved on in your mare? Tell me a bit about your mare (dam) and her pedigree. Did you breed for a jumper or dressage?
There should be a lot of them out there...I know that he is quite popular.

Well, I think you've seen photos of both of my Pablo's (a 2006 filly and a 2008 colt). I don't have recent pics of the '06 filly, but I did back her this fall and will re-start her this spring (after I breed her).
Her dam is a long backed, older style Galoubet daughter (dam-line is all holsteiner). I wanted to shorten up the back and "pretty" her up. I wanted to keep jump and possibly improve the movement. I got some of what I wanted :)! Paloma is shorter coupled all around, including a shorter back. I would say her movement is a bit better, but she certainly isn't a dressage horse (she is a little tight in the shoulder, but that is from her dam). She is a more attractive, modern type. My only disappointment is at this point she is only 15.2 and she hasn't grown in a while. I'm not sure what happened there, as the mare is a solid 16.1. I am praying for a little more growth.
As far as temperament...she is sensitive. A little spooky/looky but not out of control. She doesn't miss anything in her surroundings and notices the littlest changes in her environment. I would attribute her hotness to the Galoubet/Pilot combo. She is not at all crazy ( I actually like a hotter, more forward horse) but she is needs an experienced rider, probably. I free-jumped her minimally and her technique is good, but we didn't go very high so can't tell you about scope. I backed her myself, and I haven't done that in a while, so you can tell she isn't too insane:)! I spent a lot of time on ground-work, lungeing with tack, etc. and then got on her. It was a non-issue; no bucking or anything like that. My husband led her around for a few sessions and then we stopped for the winter.
Hope all that helps!
Edited to add that I am planning on breeding her to Cardento this spring. Hoping to not have any hotter temperament, add length of leg and maintain jump. Then she will either be sold or I will put her into a sports career after foaling.

I have an 08 Pablo/Budweiser colt I am very pleased with.
Pablo did improve the mares neck/shoulder connection and added some swing and elasticity to the trot. "Waldo" is a good mover with a great canter and strong topline. The colt is the sweetest boy and tries very hard to please. He is a real pleasure to work with!! He is also surprisingly sensitive while being very, very bold.
I was pleased with the cross and am currently tossing the idea around about repeating the breeding.

You can look at my two Pablo boys on my site listed below. Primo & Paco. Both out of the Walt Disney mare. Both great great movers. Primo is going to be taller. I'm thinking about 16.2 maybe. Paco was hurt as weanling & spent a year on stall rest so I'm thinking it slowed his growth. Both are very pretty. Both move like their mother, rounder type movement. Both super smart but Primo, the bay is hotter. Paco is absolutely quiet. Love them both. Great horses. Sorry but all I have are weanling pictures on this site. I have heard before that Pablo produces smaller at times.

Panzyr- 2006 stallion by Pablo and o/o Fuerst Honour/Fuerst Ramses/Bleep. Shown at 2. Panzyr has the best character! You can do anything with this young stallion. Right now I'm weaning my 7 month filly and she's in with Panzyr. Fabulous disposition yet still has all the talent anyone could ever want. He just got his first EVA vaccine and I had to put him in a 6' tall pen. He's jumped right out of everything else! Panzyr literally jumps the moon, or at least very high!

HHR - I don't remember seeing the photos of your filly, but I definitely remember your colt (RIP:sadsmile:). Interesting to hear about the temperment of your filly. She sounds a lot like my filly, although the bloodlines are different (my filly is out of a Gold Luck - Weltmeyer dam) and her dam was also very sensitive (but very rideable once under saddle), but had more of a "snort and look" spook at things vs her Pablo filly who has a more "reactive" spook. Yet the filly very much reminds me of her dam at the same age, although even more trusting (ie, if she is spooky or worried about something, if you pat her and say it is okay, she immediately relaxes). I am pretty sure she will be like your filly under saddle, forward and sensitive, but not insane.

Actually, WFH, I bred to Pablo mainly after I saw photos of your chestnut sabino colt by Pablo. So he must be coming 3 years old? Both of yours are beautiful! How are their temperments in comparison to the dam? My filly is very much like her dam in temperment. She also has a really round movement, although slightly different than her dam.
The colt is the sweetest boy and tries very hard to please. He is a real pleasure to work with!! He is also surprisingly sensitive
My filly is very, very sweet too - likes people even more than her dam. She is also so, so trusting and really believes that the humans won't hurt her. She is not bold per se, my other young ones are bolder, but she will stand her ground if you tell her it is okay and she needn't be afraid.
Anywone notice that their Pablo really moves well under themselves? My filly has a very good trot, on par with her mothers, maybe a better canter, slightly less good walk (but her mother was fabulous), but one thing I notice is that she keeps her haunches much more under hersself in stops and turns (ie, seems to really compress up with her hindlegs really under her body).
Anyway, interesting to hear about the size issue. I know that Oakstable has a smaller Pablo too. But my filly will not be small! She is coming 2 years old and is a solid 16 h up front and 16.1 behind (her dam was 16.2 h). She string tests to over 16.3 h. Pablo also definitely improved the bone and hock size (her dam was a bit finer boned).

I've heard of the smaller size too. Panzyr's dam, Fuerst Honour, is 15.3h but Panzyr is already a solid 16h at 2 1/2. I think he'll finish 16.1h to 16.2h.

My filly does indeed use her hind in well, very "underneath" herself. When she is playing the pasture, she looks like my husbands quarter horses, with her little roll-backs and stops. She is very athletic and catty in that regard. She does string test to 16 hands, so I'm praying that is accurate. I suppose it isn't unrealistic to expect that much growth?

We had a Pablo filly in 2007 who was just stunning!!! Incredible type, lovely mover, and accidentally jumped a half-crossrail in our ring at about 3 months, man, she could jump!! She sold as a hunter prospect as a weanling. The dam is MSB AHS by Winnetou West, and is only about 15.3h, yet usually produces decent sized and pretty foals. This was probably the prettiest and was going to be a nice size also. We liked the filly so much the mare is back in foal for April and we're excited to see if it's as nice!
Here is a picture of her at her inspection:

Signature, that is a beautiful filly and she reminder me of Patriot, full brother to Panzyr, who has that same fabulous neck~!
Patriot was site champ at his inspection, LAEC Champion 2005 colt and champion Oldenburg 2 and under. He sold to a hunter home in PA.

Our Pablo filly is out of a 16.3 hand Diamont mare and is only 15.2 at coming 3 years old. But she is lovely and moves very well! No current pics, but she is bay with blaze and four stockings.
There should be tons of photos of Pablo offspring at Pablo's website at www.rainbowequus.com

I know that their are lots of photos of Edgar's website. I guess I should have retitled my thread. I was more interested in the temperment, rideability (for those started), what he improved, etc (although photos are certainly good!!:D)
FWIW, here is my girl with foal and yearling photos

Hi Kris, glad you liked my boys! The one with all the white is truly a sweetheart. The bay is hotter, very sweet but reactive like a cat! Both are great movers that push underneath themselves, not out behind. They both have some of their mother's temperment where she is a very calm mare but can be hot.

Yes, your boys are super...but then so is the Walt Disney dam that they came from. The way you describe you bay is identical to how I would describe my filly. Very sensible most of the time, but if she is spooked by something, her reactions are super fast. And the way you describe your Walt Disney mare as very calm but can be hot when wanted is exactly like this filly and her dam. Michael Bragdell (of Hilltop) handled her my filly's dam in hand a lot (very successfully) and also handles this filly in hand (also successfully) and he describes it as "on and off". That is, they are "off" in the walk triangle and show a beautiful big, relaxed walk but they are "on" in the trot triangle and show a great big expressive trot.
I cannot wait to see your two Pablo's under saddle...the chestnut one should be soon I bet. Let me know how it goes (since I was smitten form him right from the beginning!:D).

Yes, that is how I would describe, quick like a cutting horse!

Privilege (http://p2.hostingprod.com/@signaturesporthorses.com/sitebuilder/images/petrashow-268x246.jpg) Signature, I remember you beautiful Pablo filly and saw her at Hedgeland. I think she is even the same year as mine (2007)? Was she as quiet as your other hunter-bred foals or a bit more reactive (but still sensible).

Kris -
Yes, I think we were there at the same time! That's when we saw your gorgeous Diotima. :)
Honestly she was even quieter than we anticipated as we had heard Pablo is on the hotter side (never met him), given the mare is a bit "untrusting" and suspicious, and can get a little worried; the filly had none of that. She was not completely brain dead but certainly not hot. Probably just right. She would react, but very sensible and trainable. She was skittish for about 2 weeks as any of them sometimes are, but came around to be very friendly. She was easy to handle and very willing - bathed first time with no problem (loved it actually and begged for baths thereafter) and walked right on the trailer too first time. She was excellently behaved at the Hedgeland inspection and Mare Show. It was interesting at that inspection as you could pick the Pablos out one by one by their type, head and neck, as there were several (4?) there.
The quietest foal we've ever had is our Renaissance x Skattered Dreams xx colt from 2008. He is SO quiet that he's almost non-reactive, which is good in a lot of ways but hopefully he'll care enough to learn once he starts training :). I'd say Petra was definitely about average in quietness/reactiveness to our other babies, or perhaps leaning towards the "easy" side. She was sold to first time foal owners and they have just raved about her and had no problems.
We are hoping the full sibling coming in April is exactly the same!! :) Thanks for the compliments!

UGH!!!!! :(:(:(
I should have never said anything... :( Jessica just found aborted twins in the run-in shed...apparently Abby's. One mumified and one exquisite black filly with a star and two socks. Beautiful head... and we always ultrasound at 28 days for heartbeat check and never caught this. So, unfortunatley it looks like our little Pablo is not going to be for this year. I'm sure we'll breed back god willing this spring, although we took 3 tries to catch her this year and she's 19... vet is on the way to check as it seems some placenta may be retained. Breeding is such fun sometimes...

:sadsmile::sadsmile::sadsmile: I am so, so sorry Signature. I know how that is, last year my 19 year old mare aborted her Escudo II colt at exactly this time of year (about 8 months along). He was also black with a star. I am really sorry...breeding is not fun sometimes:no: Jingling for your mare!

So, so sorry. I had bred my mare back in 2006 to Pablo for an embryo transfer and the recip mare aborted at about 8 months due to placentitis (a gray filly). It was heartbreaking.

Oh my, I can't imagine losing an ET baby, that would be sickening.
Hopefully we'll have another Pablo to look forward to for next year. Thanks again for the kind words and support.
