This looks like a very interesting stallion that has been imported to the US. Wondering if anyone here has seen him, or his progeny? p.m. is fine too.

I LOVE him; the way he uses him self is exemplary and his bloodlines are phenomenal. It helps that one of my very best friends is excellent friends with Dacia. So I'll share these extra pictures for you from his inspection, look at pages 9 and 10; http://www.photo.lynnesite.com/gallery/5605318_QAZ8o#P-9-20
From my friend's email; "Dacia said, "The Oldenburg GOV inspectors were super impressed with him. They said he had amazing movement and was an improvement from his father For Pleasure!!! We will go to Pollyridge farms for the AHHA approvals as well as make another appearence for the Oldenburg GOV!!!" "
I keep hoping for more pictures of his last foal crop in Germany, as I can't wait for his first to hit the ground here this next month!

I think he is stunning! I want to breed to him in the worst way - he is so elastic and lovley. However I dont really have a good match for him right now otherwise I would do it in a heartbeat.
Also he is out of the same mareline produced his sire For Pleasure.. pretty cool stuff.

I think this one is nice as well...I'm looking forward to seeing additional video footage of his movement when they get the chance. Federalist is also a lovely mover, so I'm wondering if For Play has hunter-sire potential....
sniplover - have you seen him in person? I'm wondering what the best type of mare for this guy is...

goodmorning, I have not yet had the opportunity. But the next time I get out to the west coast, meeting him is at the top of my priority list! Alternately, they could just bring him to show HITS in Ocala and I'd be set ;)
Dacia is incredibly nice; I'm sure she'd be more than happy to give an opinion about suitable mare types, but I'm not positive there's really enough progeny on the ground to say for sure what is ideal. I have been trying to track down the breeding of For Play's approved son, but haven't had much luck (or much time to do so).

He certainly has a beautiful canter and jump. A very lovely stallion.

He's in my area. I'll go see him.
Would you use him for a dressage foal?
goodmorning

Hi Oakstable - I'd love a 'first-hand' rendition of this stallion. I'm more interested in him for hunter/jumper stuff, but the fact that he seems to have nice freedom of shoulder and a big step are appealing. How lucky to be able to have such nice horse-flesh right down the road

Are there any video's of his movement? How is his temperment?

From what I've heard, he's very well mannered and sweet, but that's hardly informative. Sorry I can't help much there, but I'm sure Dacia would tell you if you called and asked!
With a little digging, I found a recent video of him doing a lower level dressage test http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwLbkY2S6fM

WOW, he is awesome. I am rethinking my mare's hubby for this year.

Between the movement and jumping, he's definitely one to watch.

Wow. You think he'd be a nice cross for a G-line mare? I had my heart set on Dacaprio, but I really like For Play's movement. He is really spectacular!

PP, he has quite a bit of Graphit (both top and bottom) in his pedigree. But many really like the G line and the Hanoverian Verband is trying to get breeders to use more G line in their "modern" breedings. I know that your mare has a lot of G line. You might want to play around with the testbreeding on this site and it will tell you how much would be in the cross.

I really like FP myself and had done some "play" test breedings with him to my Pablo-Gold Luck daughter.
Also of note, if you look at For Pleasure and FP sons, even thought they are jumpers, they generally seem to have above average gaits and rideability (ie, by looking at the FP sons and FP himself in the Jahrbuch Hengste). For Play is not listed in the yearbook because he is still young, but there are good stats for FP and his other sons).

Edgewood, what a neat website.
Up close they don't look TOO inbred

Although Dacaprio might look better?

For Play is the first stallion I have seen in a while that really makes me say WOW! The only thing that would make him better IMO is if he was a bay ;)

Well, it is 2 completely different pedigrees. With For Play, you are highly likely to get a very good jumper (your mare is completely jumper bred as is FP), with Dicaprio, not so much since he is dressage bred. They you also have to look at the conformation of your mare and these 2 stallions, your goals for the offspring, etc. Very different types of breedings. I, personally, would not have a problem with FP crossed with your mare (look the Holsteiners have much more linebred horses in general). :D I know that I did get some other small video clips of FP from Dacia and he is very rideable and has nice gaits. So it really depends on your goals.

The Furioso II sure comes through in For Play!! Can't miss that!! I have a Furioso II grand daughter and she looks the same except she is a liver chestnut. She has had 3 premium foals and her conformation breeds true and in 3 cases her color and markings also. I would expect in breeding to For Play his genetics would breed true.

I'm keeping an eye on this stallion, too. Definitely is one I'm seriously considering using!

For those who are familiar with the Furioso/For Play & hanno lines - can you tell me what type of mare you are considering for him (confo type in particular) and the type that you think he will throw? He does move and jump nicely  Thanks!

I have tall Darco/farn mare. What do you think about For Play for her. My mare jumps the moon and has a wonderful temperament. She could use better movement and a shorter back.

I like him as well. Had my eye on him last year. Think I have my plans for this year but if something falls through he is very high on my list, and definitely one I'll look at again for 2010 if not this year. Very lovely horse.

This is a STUNNING Stallion with a good team working with him and caring for him. I have met him several times and he is VERY much one of THE top Stallions around. He is very versatile with INCREDIBLE athleticism and movement. Dacia and Mario are true gems in the horse world as well... For Play is kind and gentle and a pleasure to be around. I am actaully thinking of using him on our large pony!
