View Full Version : HOW DO THE ARAMAS BRIDLES SIZING RUN? TRUE, OR LARGER?

I just lucked out on TOTD, and found the wide nosed fancy stitched bridle for 119.95 retail is 319.95! I bought cob, because mostly everything I put on the big pony is cob. He's a Medium, but very draft-y in stature. Big head, big body, just short. Wider nosebands are flattering on his head.

I am hoping that I didn't need to go with Pony if their sizing runs generous.

Oh, It was Tack of the day. Very limited quantities... they only run the sale stuff once a day, and only for a day. get on the mailing list, and don't blame me if you get addicted. ;)

looks like P, C, H are sold out. they take the sizes off when they sell out...there still are some in the regular raised style. still a very good deal.

They have the Oversize.. is that for a TB or is it more of a WB size ?

Probably WB. I don't think they run small... I researched COTH before I bought and found nothing about these, except that they are nice quality.
I did look on Ebay, and Equiteric has Aramas bridles for a little more but they have best offers on them... they might have the horse size for you?

Same here. I bought one without needing one. I had an Aramas bridle at one point that leaked glue in the heat like none other, but the leather was nice. Maybe this will be my "winter" bridle? Ha. I've been eying the wide nosebands for a while, and at that price I felt it was an okay splurge.

I'm thinking Aramas must have stopped being made.

Re sizing: I have a WB with a really refined head, and I bought the oversized wide noseband version (at full retail, mind you)--it didn't fit, too big, and I couldn't make it small enuf even with the hole-punch. Had to go to the horse size--and even then, he's on the next-to-highest hole(s).

If you have a REALLY big horse that can use the oversize, tho, it's a GREAT bargain!

GAH! I want one soooooooo bad, been eyeing them since this summer, but I'm pretty sure the horses I ridew/will be riding will need a horse since! Darn IT! I LOVE THAT BRIDLE!

That's an awesome deal! I bought one from englishhabit.com after Christmas - I got it for $154 ($192 closeout price less their 20% after-Christmas sale discount), and that was the lowest price I'd seen.

I received it yesterday - really nice! The Horse size fits true and looks handsome on my TB with a slightly long, but not huge, face. Like one of my other bridles (a Bobby's), though, I'll have to get a keeper added to the noseband or have the buckle moved - I have him on the 2nd or 3rd smallest hole and the excess strap end sticks out even though the noseband has two fixed keepers.

It is ORANGE but I researched before I bought and found many comments stating that the Aramas line darkens well.

Note that the Aramas line is/was manufactured by Harmohn Kraft, made of American leather and assembled in India - but don't let that put you off, it's a really nice bridle esp. at these clearance prices.

Now I just need to find a standing martingale in horse size!

I didn't get mine. Bummer. They had mis-counted their stock, and were not able to offer me one. They were very sorry.

Just a note about the Aramas standing martingale -- I had a heck of time finding one to fit my WB mare with a long neck. The Crosby (I had that bridle at the time) was too short as was another brand (forget which one). The Aramas was long enough. It's quite nice quality.

I thought that I had read somewhere that Aramas was the "lower line" of Edgewood and they are manufactured at the same facility?

I just got the oversize bridle for my big WB and I think it fits just about the same as his Edgewoods - runs a bit on the big side. I don't have any other kinds of bridles for him, so that's all I have to compare to though.

Aramas bridles are Edgewood "knockoffs," and are made of the same Sedgewick's leather (or at least they were until Edgewood recently changed their leather).

Apparently Aramas bridles (though sold by/under English Riding Supply) are actually made by Harmohn Kraft, and are essentially the same as the HK Americana line. These bridles are also essentially the same as the Dover Circuit line (maybe differences in leather, but the same maker).

wow.... so why the huge price difference for HK, and Aramas?

Well, mine had a "made in India" sticker on it...not something you'd see on an Edgewood! And the headstall has an "HK" design stamped where the throatlatch splits off...kinda cool, actually.

It's really nice quality, though - I'm contemplating trying an oversized standing martingale, as that's all that seems to be available online.

Name, and probably different leather quality.

My girl has a head that is often too big for cobb and too small for full. She wears a full size Aramas and it isn't on the smallest hole.

I retract my previous statements. I was at Dover tonight, looked at the Circuit bridles, and noticed that they no longer have the little "H" stamp at the split in the crown, like the Aramas and Americana bridles do. The leather quality is also icky in comparison to my Circuit... this leads me to believe that Dover has contracted with a different company to produce its Circuit line. (Even the Circuit saddles are different... I don't like them as well as previously).

The old Circuit bridles did have the "H," though.
