I finally got some computer upgrades and can watch videos online. I've been rootling around looking for good ones, and welcome any suggestions. Can be races, h/j, western, the olympics, training, or just personal videos. I'm just trying to get my horse fix indoors with this vile weather. Anyone?

I watched a really touching video last night not on youtube but, on the nickernetwork.
It was Scimitar: The Story of Bunny. About a yearling that had a tree branch stuck 6 inches into his skull just missing the brain. The story is about the people that saved her and her trials of rehabilitain. The horse couldn't stand by himself for almost a year.

Here is the link

Plus that site has tons of other great videos the Hoof Beats programs are a hoot!

Only a very sick person could enjoy watching that video. So, you are obviously into animal cruelty! Disgusting. Screw what the horse can do. Basically a cutting/reining/dressage horse that can keep out of the way of a seriously impaled & impeded bovine. Did I say disgusting?!

What if YOU were impaled & impeded & someone rode their horse around you???

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=HgG_Gwy7Ysg Merlin is SPECTACULAR... I think the sport itself is cruel, barbaric and outdated but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the magnificent movement and skill of the horse... Just breathtaking.

As for the stupid kid flopping off the pony while schooling XC.. The instructor - and I use that term VERY loosely should be ashamed... That pony is being a little sh*t and is being allowed to get away with it. There is no way that kid should be allowed to turn that pony away from the jump or to stop and throw his head down afterwards. That pony has her number and will only get worse. Bah Bah Bah.

Just because it is a national sport, it makes such a level of animal abuse okay? *holy cr@p*

Your ignorance is amazing. Why don't you educate yourself about the strategic placements of the impediments to the bulls movements before espousing any more asinine remarks. They put them there for a reason.

Whoa Whoa wait a minute.. :eek:I am not into animal cruelty. I find the movements of the horse amazing as well as the ability of the rider. And while I don't condone bullfighting you have to admit that is one amazing horse with his agility and grace. I was only talking about the horse not the sport itself. I'm sorry if you found offense to the video but I still find the horse's movements amazing even if you took the bull out of the equasion.

Again sorry to offend.

Coldbacked.

ETA: Most of the time it's purely a physical reaction, but occasionally a horse learns to do it to avoid the situation. Like a kid throwing itself on the floor and having a tantrum.

And the "debris" video? Sheeeeeeeit!!! I expected paper cups or birds--not...that....

No that is not me getting on Charlie at 26 seconds. It was a very green friend of mine. He was told to get on a little nicer next time. That clip made it into the video because Charlie steps on his foot....and knowing Charlie it was probably on purpose!

Agreed! I would also give my first born to be able to ride like that. The rider and horse look to be one entity. Didn't see a single dressage ride at the Olympics that remotely approached this level of partnership and talent. ;)

Shame they have to display their skill while torturing the bull though.

I've got to do some digging around YouTube to see if I can find a race I saw on the year-end TVG show. As the horses ran their race, I expected to see debris, or an animal on the track, or a strange spook or misstep with the jock hanging on...nope, as they turned for home, they were cheered on by a very enthusiastic group of about 5-8 naked guys. I about choked I laughed so hard!

Nobody is condoning the abuse of the bull but appreciating the movement of the horse. It's a horrible cruel sport but I can admire the skill of the beautiful horse while at the same time feeling sorry for the bull and ashamed it is a sport. I'm not sure why you can't understand the difference.

Most adults would fall off if their horse slammed on the brakes and put his head down to the ground to graze immediately on landing from a jump. And little kids are usually just not strong enough to stay on something like that no matter how good they are.

I do agree that the instructor is at fault though for letting this continue though.

The rider in this video has only one arm and rides bareback. It starts off with still photos then goes to video. Its quite old and I believe was taken at a veterinary college where the horse's speed was clocked. They make a number of passes on the road and each pass keeps getting faster until the horse's tail is literally straight out behind him and the rider looks like he's feeling heavy G's. Great Johnny Cash Music too!
