Feb 28 - March 1.

There will be a clinic at Rocking Horse for anyone interested in the Long Format. Ruthie Harbison (2** rider, SFI Eventing here on COTH) will be the instructor.

Riding session will include roads and tracks speeds and STEEPLECHASE.

Unmounted will include 10 minute box, inspections, etc.

I think it will be posted on Area III and RH websites soon...

Spread the word - for anyone interested!!

This is going to be a great clinic, not only for riders with some experience aiming to do a T3D, but for beginners who want to learn what different speeds feel like over measured distances at the trot and galloping.

I wish more places would do something like this. I'd love to have the opportunity to this. I don't know that I'll ever be ready to do a T3D and I think it would be so cool to have the chance to get feel for the speeds and do a steeplechase.

Where are you? We are thinking of trying to do something like this in GA. How many people out there would like to do one and are in GA, SC, TN, AL?

Just thought that I would let everyone know that the Area III AR and YR Programs will be offering the Long Format Clinic with Ruthie in Georgia around the first weekend in September. The location is still to be determined. It is planned that this clinic will be offered on an annual basis in both the early Spring and early Fall. More information will be posted on the Area 3 website as soon as all the details for the Fall clinic are worked out.

Fantastic news!!!! if all goes well with my horsie's eye, I hope to lesson with her and hubbie Andrew a couple of times before that! thanks again for sharing the great news!

Hopefully, more advanced riders like Ruthie Harbison will be willing to offer clinics, encouragement, and support to eventers wanting to get themselves and their horses prepared for the fun, learning, and satisfaction of a REAL 3 Day Event!

Hooray! We need these kinds of clinics... especially for people like me who romanticize about doing a T3D but aren't really sure if we've got what it takes. Can't wait for the news on location for the one in GA! I'll be saving my pennies until then!

I just heard that this was cancelled due to low entries. I'm really disappointed to hear that.

Me too... Florida is far but had Fleck been a bit more in shape (and not LAME!!! argh.. just the past two days... keep your fingers crossed it's an abscess and will pop out NOW!!!) I would have done it.

I'm hoping that they can reschedule :)

I would for Georgia to do something a long format clinic. I know there would be a good turnout. It would really give me a goal to work toward!

Dang it, I am not able to attend. I had forgotten that I have a pony club show jumping clinic with John Brown that day at my barn. Guess I should be there!

I'm fairly sure that's who will do the coordinating - at least it was the YR coordinator who sent out the info re clinic and later the cancelation to the Adult Riders...

If it's not her, she'll send you to the right person.

Well, I was going to sign up for the clinic but managed to get myself concussed the other weekend so I am on stall rest for a few weeks.... :sigh: Glad to hear there is another one being planned, it is definitely something I'd do!

I think I heard about the one that was supposed to be at RH via an email from a friend just a couple weeks ago--maybe not enough people knew about it far enough in advance??
