We had a great hunt Saturday, but the hounds got on a coyote heading out of our territory and were gone away. Couldn't catch them and only able to call back 4 couple (took out 10 1/2 couple). Searched and called all afternoon and next day. As of last night, we had found all but 3 hounds...then bad news this morning...found one hit by a car on his way home. Still 2 hounds out. Huntsman is still out looking, blowing horn, callling, etc. Please pray for safe return of our last 2 hounds!

I don't know if this would help, because you all have a unique situation. www.findtoto.com is a website that is hooked up to blast call all the neighbors in a surrounding area. I found out about it because I actually got a call. It is automated and says the type of dog, where it was lost, who is looking for it and how to get to the website for more info. I am sure you are hunting in a rural area, but it still may be worth a try.

If you have the owner's old coat, try putting it out where the hounds were last seen, and keep checking back on it. This used to work with our rabbit hounds -- you'd find them sitting on the coat.

Best of luck to you.

What's a phone number someone could call if they see one of your hounds?

Is this Cloudline Hounds east of Dallas?

Thanks for the advice and support...I think she did leave a kennel coat out. And yes its Cloudline hounds north of Dallas near Celeste, TX. Please call Susan Gentry at 214-232-2984 or Craig Gentry at 972-741-4959 if you have seen/heard anything.

Were they lost near Celeste? The more specific you can be the better as i'm going to post this information on a hunting site. They complain over there about lost hounds, about half want to shoot them on sight, but they ARE in the woods a lot and a lot of them live rurally.

Wanabe,
Thanks for your help. They were lost between Celeste and Wolf City. We know that they were over near the Webb Hill Country Club as we talked to some farmers who spotted them on Sat. We were hunting from Cloundline Farm in Celeste and the hounds will usually head back toward home. Most made it back on their own.

Jingling for a safe return of the last two. I'm so sorry about the one you lost. I'm going to post to my border collie board to tell any of our members near Dallas to BOLO.

Tracking collars are a huntsman's best friend.

The other two will circle back to the cast. It may take a day or two, but they should come back in.

Yeah! Great news. We got a call that someone found one of them. He had showed up at their house and they called the # on his collar. He was 23 miles from home. Then great news, the last hound found his way home! He showed up at the kennels about 8 last night. He is hungry and tired, but finally home. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.
