How do the ULR ride so many horses at the high level in one day.
Buck is listed for RH advanced on 6 horses. 6 horses, advanced level, one day!
How? How I ask?

Where is the list? When I click on entry stats for RH Advanced or Winter 3, it just says that entry status will be available on 1/6/09....and of course it's 1/8/09.

I worked w/an ULR at one point and he would have anywhere from 2-6 horses all going. He had 2 working students that basically had them ready to go while the other one took the horse that was finished.
My problem would be memorizing the different tests and courses! I sometimes do 2, but you have to have help.
Sally cousins rides a bazillion horses but she also usually has a bazillion people helping her out.

6 horses... you should ask Boyd Martin how he does it. I think back in September at Seneca when Phillip was still out of the country, he had 11 horses running... at all levels.....

I think it's crazy even when the multiple horses aren't going advanced. July is still July regardless.
And it definitely involves lots of grooms.
Multiple sets of tack.
And someone who is seriously OCD organizing the tack, the ride times, and the grooms.

Not QUITE accurate. 6 years ago, my daughter was Sally's first working student. At the time, there was one hired girl, Sally's husband and Sally's mother. The trick is being incredibly organized. The event organizers are also of enormous help in the scheduling.

Kaitlyn,
I agree with all said about about people, money, and drugs. From a rider standpoint though, if you had told me 5 years ago I would be riding nearly 30 horses a day 7 days a week 36 weeks out of the year, I would have told you that you were nuts. You just do it though. Obviously, my horses are race horses, but the sheer magnitude of riding 30horses in one day is daunting...until you just do it. This summer, I had 28 to gallop at the track each morning the weekend of Genesee Valley Hunt where I had 3 horses entered, at BN, T, and P. Somehow I got it done. I guess you don't know what you can do until you try. For the sake of enticing the flame though, I am very fit. Those who are NOT fit cough cough, I don't know how they do it. I have a couple of good stories about those who are NOT fit got to be so. Remind me to tell you.

At least a couple of people, more than one saddle, and an utter devotion to organization. I'm always in awe of those operations. Sally's and Phillip's are both spectacular.
