She lists her Christmas 'presents' to others. Quite touching. Wish we could clone her!
But check this out
To David - Understanding from the eventing world of what goes on behind closed doors - and how he is actually burdened with the knowledge of the truth of how close we are to loosing our sport.
Well, that's just ducky. How about letting is in on it so we can help. All of our kvetching hindering or helping???

I believe she is wanting more sympathy from the Smurfs for David and his position as "The Man" as far as what he is dealing with from the FEI and what he may or may not be dealing with from the domestic crowd. Regardless of how the kvetching of those outside the inner circle might be perceived by Max, if she's even hinting that it is a problem, it really doesn't affect the status of things in the slightest nor can it make things any worse. What it probably does do (from the big Moofer point of view) is annoy them to no end because they feel that the masses simply cannot comprehend or see the sport and it's issues the way that they do. Irony is truly a double sided waffle.

You mean that there is a chance we actually can comprehend? Hell, I doubt I could do that with a abacus and 50 years of trying. I doubt that the FEI/USEF even comprehends the sport anymore. I wonder if Madoff is a major contributor to the business schema used?

If DOC's version of the sport is what it appears to be, I'm all for losing it. Pleased to hear its demise is imminent and I look forward to getting back to a healthier model of the sport.
'actually burdened with the knowledge' -- that's funny. Here's a solution: (1) no more closed doors and (2) no more insider-secret knowledge.

I think you pretty much laid out the problem in that last sentence: "Business schema". That is the damaged marrow of the bone of contention between the In and Out groups.

Please don't talk about waffles...I'm very busy with losing my holiday chocolate overload, which makes me very, very cranky and crave things like waffles.

Poor Manda. I will make you some waffles once you are ready to eat them again. That will make you feel all better. :)

Great. Now all I can think of are those ice cream waffles at Rolex... Only 4 months to go until waffles and crab cakes! Oh, yeah, horses too.

Maybe pizza/beer; maybe stronger in the Equestrian tent.
