The time has come for me to realize that I need to cut down on some of my extra finanaces and 1of the 2 horses, 1 of the 2 cars, the dirt bike, the motor cycle and many other things must go in order for me to actually be able to survive now in this poor economy.
SO looking for a loving, spoiling, knowledgeable home is my 4 year old green broke arab/nsh. "Tois Unknown Soldier" aka Chance is reg'd with the Arabian Horse Assoc. as a Half Arab and is able to be reg'd as a NSH I have all his paper work but it costs more than I can afford.
The Good: He is a beautiful mover, has great even flowing gates. Knows his commands for w/t/c/whoa/backup on the lunge and under saddle but is green broke. I have spent more time on the ground than under saddle with him this past summer as I had a bad fall and injured my pelvis and couldn't ride that much so training a greenie wasn't the best idea. In the right hands he will do wonderful w/t/c for hours with his arab stamina, and LOVES to work. He loves going out on the trails, LOVES water, ponds, streams you name it, hes in it. He has a high energy level and would do best in a home that has consistent work and has either a trainer or has an itermediate riding level or higher. He loves to be groomed, will bath, loves the hose all over his body and face, Although doesn't really like having his sheath done but will tolerate it, is good with getting his feet done and is barefoot. Never had shoes on and stands well for the farrier but will make faces as he is being trimmed. Great for the vet but needs a bucket of food in his face for shots. Loves getting his teeth floated!! He is approx 14.3/15.0 last time I measured but may be taller now. He loves his blankets. He loves toys and plays hard. He will find sticks and carry them around. We keep the large orange construction cones in the field and he throws, runs and carries them all over the place. He is super friendly, puppy dog in your pocket. He is not food aggressive at all. You can push him away from his feed and hay at any time and groom him at liberty in the field and while he is eating as well. He will cross tie and single tie but will NOT single tie to the trailer** (explained below) Is getting used to our new puppy but tries to show his dominence over the puppy. He is getting used to the puppy willing sniffs the puppy and licks it but if Chance is runnings in teh field and the puppy is running too he may kick at the puppy. But otherwise a very friendly people loving horse.
Chance has really neat markings. He is trying to figure out if he wants to gray out or not so he is kind of a bay with graying underneath (think of mixing cinnamon and sugar) a almost fully grayish face with a blaze and snip with black legs with gray/white lines runnings around them and a black mane and black/white tail and 2 rear socks. He is also freeze marked (underneath his mane) as well as registered and AHA has his freeze marking on file.
He is a very easy keeper will eat anything you give him. He is currently on trotter, daily wormer and free choice 1st cutting. Along with all the apples and treats the faimly gives him.
I have had him since he was 3 months old and have done all his training myself with some help here or there when I injured my back.
The Bad: He is green. When not in consistent work he gets bored and finds things to chew like other horses tails, the barn, sticks, blankets, toys etc. ** He is NOT a cribber or constent chewer, these things tend to happen only in winter bc I dont do ANY work in the winter with the horses at all** He needs to be in work. The summer I either ride or hand walk the trails when I was injured and he was happy. Because he is green if I havn't ridden in a while he will test and throw his head down and throw a test buck which is fixed with a strong "cut it out" voice and more leg and one to two times he figures it out and then behaves the rest of the time. But that only happens the first few rides getting back into a schedule. Once in a daily schedule this goes away.
He can get nippy when not in work. We have found that when he is in constent work he is less mouthy/nippy. He doesn't do this to be harmful but just to play like he does with his companion but we do not tolerate this. We have carried a dressage crop and have tapped his front legs with it but now just the site of the crop he knows to behave.
The Real Bad: He is a tough loader. We are working on this and getting better. Last summer we were on loading to go to the trainer when i got him on for one reason or another he paniced broke his strap and fell out of the trailer. He did not injure himself, no scratches, breaks bruises, anything and did reload right away, but frrm that day on he had refused to load ever again. I have been working with him and with the "squeeze" game he will load and unload from the trailer but this game must be played first for a bit before he will load. The time is shortening but he still is very nervous of the trailer. I am thinking he may do better with a stock trailer as when I take out the middle divider and left the trailer attached to his field him and his buddy would go in and out of it without any trouble it is just with the divider he gets nervous being closed in.
I'd like to keep him somewhere in the tri-state area of Connecticut. He is currently located in Oxford, CT and I'd like to be able to visit him occasionally. You are more then welcome to come take a look at him as well. Also the proper contracts will be signed as well as his registry paperwork. But I may talk over with the people looking to home him about giving me "first chance" upon re-selling him. Also if you are serious I would like to speak with your vet/farrier for references as well.
I do have pictures but can't post on here if interested email HMDeyo@aol.com
