I'm looking to try and find a free lease for my TB gelding, Candyman (aka. Candie). Yes, he's a gelding, and I blame the JC all the time for allowing a gelding to be officially registered as Candies Time. ;)

I'd like to lease Candie out to an experienced, confident, quiet rider that is looking for a horse that would be competitive in the 2'6" and/or 3' divisions or even in the pleasure horse division. He's had the winter off and would need to be brought back into shape, and he does have a tiny bit of arthritis in his left hock, which means he would need monthly Adequan shots and daily Corta-Flx HA. The vet agrees that he should be just fine if he was not jumped more than once a week and only did a division or maybe 2 at each show. He moves pretty well; he might not win the hack in a big class with a lot of fancy movers, but he's always won or placed well in good competition when I've shown. He has a super cute jump and gets down the lines easily. He does his changes as long as the person asks correctly. He is a forward ride and needs someone with a soft leg that does not jump ahead. He will get quick otherwise. I flat him in a Sprenger Dynamic D-Ring and jump and show him in a Waterford. He is well-schooled on the flat and attentive to legs aids. You can work him in a frame or ride him on the buckle.

He's happily living outside 24/7 with a blanket in the winter, but I've stall boarded him before with no problem. No vices. Excellent ground manners. He won in the Greens and Lows on the SWVHJA circuit at the few shows I could do. He's a pretty fun ride for an experienced rider. He's about 16.1 and 12 years old this year.

Candie has a forever home with me. He loves to be in work and is grumpy now that he gets so little attention. I've got a greenie that I need to focus on showing and selling this year, and do not have the time to devote to him at the same time. He is not a spooky horse, but is attentive to his surroundings. He does have a couple quirks like you cannot force him to stand still when you mount; therefor I am looking for someone that will not try to "train" him, but rather enjoy him as he is.

Candie is located on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, and the lease would be an off-farm lease only. I'm pretty flexible on how far he could go if the fit is right but references and a lease agreement will be required.

Here are a few pics of him over the years at shows and schooling.

I do have some short video clips of him schooling at home on the flat and over fences for serious inquiries.
