I am looking for horses in the Aiken, SC area. Can someone give me names... websites... any information for sellers in that area, or trainers/sellers going to Aiken anytime during the near future? Looking for horses going novice+. Thanks in advance. Any information is great.

There is usually very good shopping to be had in Aiken. Of course, there is the Aiken Event Horse Sale, but there are lots of other options from the 'usual suspects' of event trainers that head down for the winter. A few that likely have 'inventory' - Jan Byyny, Kim Severson, Phillip Dutton, Sally Cousins, Heide White, Will Faudree, plus others. Suggest you check the entry lists for Full Gallop, Sporting Days and Pine Top -- that will tell you who will be in town, then check websites for contact info. Call them and ask.

Good Luck!

I love Aiken... are you looking for a place to ride? I don't know of anyone who is selling a horse down there... have you googled it? If you are planning on riding then you may want to contact someone early because it is very hard to get a lesson.

Would you be interested in attending the Aiken Event Horse Sale? It's on March 2-3, 2009. See www.aikeneventhorsesale.com or if you can't wait until then, you could call Craig Thompson at 803-634-0379. He has many contacts and usually has a few nice horses.

You might give Lellie Ward a call (www.paradisefarmaiken.com). She's native to the area, has ridden through the Advanced level, and knows a lot of people both in and out of town.

Check out Laura Vandervliet's website too. She is going down in a few days and has several for sale that will end up in Aiken competing and potentially at the sale.

What a great place to look for a new horse! Good luck--you should have lots to choose from.

I suggest that you contact Courtney Cooper. She will be there with a string of nice eventing sale horses. Many will be competing at Full gallop and other shows. Her web site is:

Try going to her web site www.csquarefarm.com. Courtney always has a nice group of horses for sale, and if she doesn't have what you're looking for, try calling her (or just email her at csquarefarm@yahoo.com), as she can most certainly find it through her extensive contacts. She'll be based at Full Gallop.

Laura's web site is currently under construction, so it's best to just email her at LJVV2000@yahoo.com.
