Would you get a show jacket with piping on it? Or is that a no in the rated hunter ring?

Heres an example of a coat with the piping I like
http://www.greenwaysaddlery.com/coatimages/AriatLegacyPiped.jpg

I really like the look of it but I don't want to fork out the money to getting it and then it turns out it is a negative in the hunter ring.

Thanks!

My daughter got a beautiful hunt coat for Christmas with piping on the collar. It fits her so well andthet colors are gorgeous-I say if you like it and it is tastefully made-wear it and enjoy!!

i like the look of piping but your shirts have to match the piping....... So that has always held me back from getting piping

I would LOVE to add piping to one of my coats. To the previous poster who said they added it to theirs, did you do it yourself or did you have it professionally done? How would you do it?

i think piping looks hideous in the hunter ring unless its discreet and matches the coats color (as in the base color. like a navy coat with navy piping). even at that, i don't like it. then again, in the jumper ring, i think it's cute and classy. but in the hunter ring, i call it a no no. i dunno why i think that way, i just do. i'm all for fun and colors, but for some reason, i just don't find piping acceptable. but that's just me  is a judge going to mark you down for it? very very unlikely. if you really like it, go for it. why not? but remember, you'll be limited with your color options for a shirt, if your piping color is not the base color of your hunt coat. if you get pink piping, for example, you'll be limited to pink and white shirts.

I have a gray coat with subtle blue piping. Grand Prix. I LOVE it, but have to sell it in a good-faith effort to clean out my closet to appease my husband.

I think that it can look VERY sharp. I love(d) mine!!! As soon as he stops paying attention to what I own, I'll probably get another one :)

Not actually a bad idea :) Somewhat along the lines of having things shipped to my office so I don't keep getting SmartPak boxes delivered to the front door!

#1 It's a fun way to quietly accessorize your coats and shirts

#2 Contrary to a previous poster....it does not have to match your shirts, it has to compliment the color. Matchy-matchy is for fashion rookies. IMO Superpony is a little conservative, try telling the people in Wellie-world that they look hideous on their six-figure hunters...that will go over well. Hideous is those sparkly helmets and belts. Piping is nothing. Besides, we're not riding for God and country.....so have a little bit of fun!

#3 You can buy a coat ready made with the piping on it or you can do it yourself

#4 Piping is crazy easy to put on the coat yourself! Go to any Joann fabric and buy this http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog.jsp?CATID=cat3454&PRODID=prd34714 For .89! and 30 minutes of your time with a needle. Whip stitch the edge to the underside of your collar. It takes me about 15 minutes and when you get tired of the color.....take it off.

#5 I just got back from the World Cup and saw lots of trim and velvet collars on the riders. Yes I know that jumpers can be a little more wild than hunters, but a little piping is a conservative expression of your tastes.

Hmmmm what size are you? That coat would look smashing on my grey mare :) I have a lovely brown coat that looks great on my bays and everything looks ok on my greys but that would look particurlarly lovely on her ;)

Maybe we can do some sort of a swap to appease your husband

I love the shad's with piping on the tails. In my opinion, it looks much better than the bright colored linings. Classy without being too gaudy.
