My niece is having to find a home for her two dogs due to a change in her living circumstances. One is a neutered male about 9 mos old, the other is an adult spayed female 7 years old. These dogs are located in the Knoxville area. Also if anyone has information on a german shepard rescue or another rescue in the area that might be able to take these dogs I would appreciate it. I don't have pictures but maybe can get some tomorrow. I am just visiting so don't know that much about these dogs, except that they are very friendly and sweet.

If your niece bought her dogs from a reputable breeder, she should contact the breeder. Often there is a contract that says if the buyer can't keep the puppy, it must be returned to the breeder. Often even if the language is not in the contract, the breeder will want to take the dog back & re-home it.
Otherwise, Google AKC German Shepherd & if that doesn't do it, when you get to the AKC site, use the site search feature & search for "rescue". There is a page listing all the breed rescue groups - I know there are some state-specific German Shepherd rescues; I don't know of TN has one, though. There should also be a link to the German Shepherd breed organization & almost all breed organizations have information & contacts for rescue.
Best of luck helping the pups.

Consider posting this in the non-urgent rescue section of GermanShepherds.com as well. There may be a TN rescue on the list.

Oh I love German shepherds. I hope you can find them a good home. Too bad I'm not closer.

Check petfinder.com in her area too, sometimes there are rescues listed that she might be able to contact.

I have pictures of the female but haven't gotten any of the young male yet. She is 7 and not 5 (I will edit the first post) and super nice.

I don't have any space sadly for these sweeties, but if your friend would like to get in touch with me, I could spread the word at the vet school. We have a classifieds section that tries to rehome dogs. I would love to help more, but I'm all out of room.

My shepherd cross was euthanized in November due to liver failure (age 13). I have been looking for a new friend, and would be interested in adopting the younger dog. We'd have to figure out transport, if she'd be interested in sending him to live in MD. I live on a small farm, there is one other neutered male dog, (who is kenneled, as he chases and kills my cats), a barn cat population of 10(ish), 3 house cats and 12 horses. If she'd consider separating the two, and thinks he'd be ok with the cat population, I'd be interested in giving him a home. PM me.

Bumping this up. We think we have found a home for the young male, but the sweet female still is looking for someone to love!
