Recently saw a Secretariat daughter 22 years old and still producing. Out of a Marshua's Dancer mare. I remember Marshua's Dancer, stood for years at Spendthrift Farms in Kentucky.
The most famous offspring of Secretariat mares that I can think of are the stallions Gone West and A.P. Indy.
Can anybody think of other famous sires or runners with Secretariat as a broodmare sire?

Yeah, I can think of one.
Storm Cat.

Can't believe I didn't think of Storm Cat!
That is one amazing trio of TB stallions though, Storm Cat, A.P. Indy and Gone West.
Secretariat was an amazing sire of daughters of successful stallions.

Also Chief's Crown and Dehere, both Eclipse champion 2-year-olds and successful sires.

I perk up when I see a Secretariat mare listed now. We have an agreement to take one for retirement that is now producing. She'll be 19 in 2009. The two mares that Oak (hurst?) have/had were both around 22 and producing. I know there are others out there still producing but I expect the numbers to drop off pretty quickly in a couple of years. Secretariat was an outstanding broodmare sire and boy he must have been made up of dominant genes because those looks sure get passed down!!

Somebody - please find One N Only Athena. She's 22yrs old and not in foal. She was withdrawn from the FT sale at Timonium. I just want to know that she is safe.

Her owners name is on her page in their catalog. I don't know where he lives but you could call the sale company and see if they would give you contact info. or at least a city/state you could look him up in the white pages. You could also try state racing associations in the area.

Even though I know it's probably fairly common, I am thrilled that my new TB is a direct descendant of Secretariat. It's a name that most non horsey folks recognize.
He is a grandson of Dehere.

I have a client with a Secretariat daugher he is trying to place http://web.sendtoprint.net/proofbook/login.asp enter the password signature and then look at broodmare 4 under categories. She is a nice mare and could still produce a foal or two for somebody willing to give her a forever home. This client's two older stallions just passed away and he is changing the focus of his breeding program with his younger stallions. If she doesn't find a good forever home, she will be retired and given one at the farm. But she does seem like a good opportunity for somebody looking for a nice mare for free who is approved for wb breeding.
