I feel like I've checked the usual suspects and can't find what I'm looking for- plain, old, normal saddle pads... solid colors, no ribbons, piping, binding...

I'd like to spend about $15, and the specific colors I need are burgundy, navy, hunter and black.

Can you help me find them?!

You got it! I just dug my winter one out, and lo, they had them on sale! I didn't want to pay $17, but for $11, I'll do it!

The Dover pads are great. I buy one or two new ones each year, and that keeps up with the wear and tear (and the need to have clean ones ;)) for one horse. If you wash/dry them, the fabric does shrink a bit and gets a little puffy in the quilting, but not so much that it matters for schooling (heck, I've even done it to my white show ones by mistake and you can't tell from a couple of feet away, anyway).

My only warning is that they are not BIG pads. They fit my horses (14.2 and 15.2, with 16.5-17.5" saddles) GREAT (another reason I like them is because they don't SWALLOW my horses like some brands do!), but if you have a 17 hand draft cross, they're probably going to look a bit funny. ;)

You don't happen to have any of the PRI pads, do you? Thats what I usually school in and they're not huge, but work for my guys 15.2, 15.3 and my 18" saddle. Wonder how they compare size wise...

I don't think a bath towel would look very nice embroidered at a show!

PRI pads are a bit bigger and more streamlined. They're my favorites. The Dover ones are nice enough, though.

Thanks! So if the PRI work, the dover should work as well, is what I'm getting?

I use the Dover pads with my 18" saddle and they fit fine. I also usually get one or two new ones every year or so. They do hold up pretty well as several of mine are still in use and are probably at least 5 years old. For the price, definitely a bargain.

I have a bigger saddle, 18.5, and the Dover pads don't fit very well. They fit perfectly with a smaller saddle. They will shrink like everyone says!

If you are worried about shrinkage, I would def. go with PRI. They are a little more $$, but quality is better, they hold up really well if you use the tar out of them. JMO. :D

I have seen serious shrinkage with the Dover pads... to the point that they were almost too small for my 17" saddle. Other than that, they are nice pads for the price, and come in the colors you you want.

PRI pads are nice, and I also really like HKM. These are both more expensive than Dover, but the quality is also much nicer.

I think the Dover pads would be fine for you.

They shrink so I usually just wash them in cold water do not put them in the dryer and they come out ok. They are cheap and easy! I love Dover!

The Dover pads, even shrunk, fit with a 17.5" Wintec AP, which (for those who've not looked at one closely) has panels that are longer than average for the size. I would think a "normal" 18" saddle would be fine (you aren't going to have a ton of room around the edges, but it'll fit without sitting on the binding); bigger than that I'd want to try with one pad before ordering multiples...
