From Goodmorning:
"I know someone with a lovely AP Jet mare who looks exactly like this guy - also sticks over 17h, Reserve Ch. in Ocala, won both o/f and in the hack (A/A's), I think she may have won the hack out of 30-40 in her division, an all around nice horse."

Hello Everyone!
After seeing the above post and others, I am intrigued, and hoping for more information on offspring in Sport of the TB Stallion, A P Jetxx, who stands/stood? at Silver Maple Farm in Upstate NY. I was lucky enough to find a lovely A P Jet daughter, Karen J.xx (A P Jetxx X Dr Blumxx) at the Fastig Tipton sale a few years ago. Before I sold her recently, she had two KWPN foals for me, Carma SCF (v. Wanroij) and Dena SCF (v. Judgement ISF). Karen J. turned out to be an amazing producer of sporthorse prospects for me (she herself is a fantastic mover)....Her first KWPN foal Carma was Res. Champion KWPN Hunter foal for the country for 2007, and her second foal, Dena, was/is the #1 Champion KWPN Jumper Foal for 2008. Because we are keeping her Judgement daughter (for sport and breeding), we sold Karen Jxx. to a friend, but are intrigued by the A P Jet's in Sport mentioned in the other thread...Anyone else know of any A P Jet's in Sport? Details?

FYI, we went to Silver Maple a few years ago (right after we bought Karen J.xx), and were SO impressed with A P Jetxx himself....He has great "sport" type conformation, and a wonderful, kind temperament. Our kids were hugging him and feeding him carrots! A few candids and info on A P Jet can be seen on our website....
http://sportingchancefarm.com/karen_j.htm .

Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Warmly,
Karin J. (yes, Karen J.!<G>)

I have a rescued AP jet son named Saratoga Lake - he is LOVELY and could have won in the hunters no problem but he was too broken - so he is retired and raising foals for my friend who breeds TB's.. However one of the nicest horses of any type I have ever ridden.

Here is a pic of him after he was resuced and fattend up...

AP Jet is a Fappiano son. Fappiano is highly regarded as a hunter/jumper producer.

I came over to this forum to bump a thread (which I will still do) I had started about a week ago because on of the stallions I mentioned on that thread is an AP Jet son, and Fappiano grandson. With, I might add, some Caro thrown in on the damside.

If you take a look at this thread
http://www.chronicleforums.com/Forum/showthread.php?t=180091

you'll see that this guy, Cape Pogue, has suffered an apparently mild suspensory injury and desperately needs a home. He's FREE. Please, if you are at all interested, work with Olympicdreams04 and give this lovely guy a home.

I am intereseted - so PM or email me - my email is in my profile.

Also for anyone else interested this horse has 2 crosses to Grey Sovereign in his pedigree - Grey Sovereign shows up in MANY sport horse pedigrees - including on the dam side of Nassau by Indoctro.

He is also out of the damn line 23-b which produced Best Turn who is the sire of Hand in Glove.

This could be a nice sport horse sire.

I just got word from Olympicdreams04 that Cape Pogue has been placed -- with a sporthorse breeder. That was fast! The power of COTH strikes again.

Hi EquineLVR,
Thanks for the post and the photo of the GORGOUES A P Jet gelding! He looks JUST like his sire! What a shame that he never made it to the hunter ring....Looks like a conformation horse to me!<G>

Please keep the photos and results coming guys!
Warmly,
Karin

Hi Louise,
Thanks so much for the information. I am SO glad that you found a home for the two special boys that you rescued....Good for you.....

Might A P Jet or Fapppiano show up on any of the Hunter Sire lists or are they normally a generation back?

Warmly,
Karin

Thanks for asking Karin, my girls are fat and sassy.

I have an Ironman foal due in May, out of Mystery who is a Mr. Prospector granddaughter. I was excited to see how nicely AP Jet went with Ironman. Jet is also a grandson of Mr. P.

Recently I acquired Mystery's 7/8th sister, her sire is bred like AP Jet. Demidoff is (Full brother to Gone West) by Mr. Prospector out of a Secretariat mare whose dam is Tamerett (2nd dam of AP Jet). She is a super hunter mover, now who to breed her too?

Hi again Sporthorsefilly!
Glad to hear the girls are well.....Do you have a photo of your new mare? Wow, what a pedigree! Looking for a TB or Warmblood? Not suprised she is a great mover... My A P Jet mare Karen J.xx was/is an unbelievable mover as well....Her Judgement filly, Dena , was given a "90" for conformation, and a "90" for movement by the KWPN Keuring Jury.....Not bad for a jumper!<G>

Karin thanks! She is on my website, her name is Jr's Freedom...not great photos!
Both she and Mystery are doubled on Somethingroyal (Secretariat's dam) and have Sir Ivor on the dam side. I am a chrome junkie, so thinking of a boy with glitz!

Wow your Judgement filly sounds grand, congratulations!

Thanks again Sporthorse filly! Lovely mare and looks like a lovely mover! Did you want a TB stallion or a Warmblood for her?

Definitely warmblood. I love Nob Hill and Winston at Nokomis but wish they had approval from another registry other than AWS. If I were going to go with a TB it would be Fun and Fancy Free...but definitely want to stay away from 100% TB.

Want the boning, and more laid back temperment. Cardinal846 would be my first choice but his stud fee is high...ditto Jupiter.

Suggestions???

Karin, the Fapps are widely regarded as our favorite line of Mr. Ps (but then again, Fapp was bred by one of the absolute geniuses of breeding - John Nerud, and class always tells). Unfortunately for all of us Fapp died very young as a breeding stallion just after his reputation as a top sire was established (as did his #1 son, a little known horse called Unbridled ;) ) so they are few and far between these days. He's been gone long enough that even his daughters are ending their producing careers and generally not very cheap when they did run through the sales. So it almost doesn't matter what we like, they are so few and far between that you tend to take what you can get. But there were some nice Fapp offspring in the hunter ring when he was still had performance age babies, with Western Prospect being one of the more famous hunter babies. Lately he shows up again in the eventing world through Comet Shine's son, Courageous Comet. You can also find Fappiano through Rubiano (also deceased), Cahill Road (full brother to unbridled, minus the talent), Quiet American (sire of Real Quiet) and Cryptoclearance

My personal thoughts are that there are a LOT of Mr. P lines out there, but some seem to trend toward downhill build and others do not. Obviously it's the "do nots" I look for! And if you go through any sire catalog, the one trait you see of the Fapp offspring (almost universally represented through Unbridled and his son Unbridled's Song), is that they tend towards a more uphill build and a typey topline (realizing that of course some do not). They also tend towards necks that are a tad short - very correct and lovely, but a tad short. I also like the build of Forty Niner offspring - not quite as uphill as some of the Unbridleds but very classic while still being reasonably uphill.

For me, the classic example of the two lines type would be Jules (http://www.pedigreequery.com/jules) and unbridled time (http://www.pedigreequery.com/unbridled+time) (note the similarity of tail lines)

Thank YOU! Sporthorse filly, for the kind words. IronJet is spectacular, and promises to be star for someone in the near future.
We DID sell his dam, Ginger's Jet (check out her nice pedigree) , and regret it terribly. She is an awesome mare, incredible mother, and a ride to die for.
Example:
After weaning her colt, my husband rode her 3 times at the farm. Once at the facility near us and popped her over crossrails (she had not been sat on in 18 months).Keep in mind this mare was only RACE TRACK broke....(altho whomever did it, did a wonderful job...more like a dressage trainer)
The following week we took her to a schooling show at Brownland Farm in Brentwood Tennessee, known for tons of horses, lots of noise, hustle and bustle.
Our young girl we had invited to ride the mare was late, so had a 5 minute trial in the warm up ring (never having sat on the mare until then)
She went in the warm up hunter class ( 2-2'6"0 with a full complement of fences the mare had NEVER seen). The girl is 15 and a cute rider, but by no means experienced or trained.
The mare picked up her correct lead on the circle, went to the fence and stopped. The girl kept her head, circled again, and mare jumped it beautifully and went on to jump the entire course with style STYLE..went in the 2' beginning hunter division and never dropped a rail, and had 6-7 gorgeous fences...Husband rode her in the flat class and she was a doll. What a mind...and talent....and we go and sell her as a casual mount for a young girl. talk about stupid....lovely home, but I sure wish I had her back.
But the colt promises to be even better, bigger..we had a ball doing updated photos of him, as he is sooooooo agreeable...I hope we find the RIGHT show spot for him when the time comes......live and learn.
by the way, our IRONMAN/arab gelding who is coming three has a fabulous mind and an incredible jump. A h/j pro saw him a few weeks back and said he had the makings to be one of the few lovely open hunters...I think IRONMAN has alot to do with the skill potential and the dam of IronJet, with her sire's lovely temperament, is quite a combination...

I had a gelding by Gold Fever...used to stand in NY but now looks like he has moved back to KY to stand. He is a Forty Niner son. Forty Niner also seems very hard to find now a days. He was an absolutely striking gelding. Good mover and very good jumper. Should become an UL event horse but could have done the hunters or jumpers. I bought him as a long yearling and was told by several people that I should have showed him on the line. If he had been a girl....I would not have sold him ;) I actually liked his dam line a ton though.

My gelding was a bay version...slightly more refined.

I have a gelding that was by AP Jet. He has been a great horse. He has so much personality, and seems to have the natural hunter rhythm. He's so fun to lunge over jumps. He jumps so well and just gets it. The only thing I can say is that he's pretty mouthy (growing out of it now), but I think he was gelded late.

Forty Niner also seems very hard to find now a days.

Forty Niner was exported to Japan fairly early on, although I saw where one of his sons (Utopia) did a reverse trip and came from Japan to the US.

Not necessarily about AP Jet, but since you are talking about Fappiano bred horses, what about this guy:

http://web.archive.org/web/20070207021258/www.footfallfarm.com/just_plain_joe.htm
http://www.pedigreequery.com/just+plain+joe2

This is an archived page; he used to stand at the farm where I boarded my mare and I always wondered what he would be like as a sporthorse stallion. He has been sold in the last year and I believe he now stands at a much smaller farm without a website.

Thanks for the great information everyone!

Sporthorsefilly, by some of your stallion interestes, I assume you are looking to breed a hunter? If JUMPER, I might have to suggest that you look into Judgement ISF since he crossed SO well with my A P Jet mare to make Dena.....More info please!

Glad I read this! This forum is such a great resource on TB information!!

I have a suckling TB filly that is by a Fappiano Grandson. Good to hear more of her lineage! She is a cutie, she loves to run laps around all the other horses, its cute to see her slick back her ears and just blast forward, as my Dutch colt tries to keep up! LOLOL
Here are a couple photos of the furry girl...
