I saw him at the NEDA Fall Festival in 2007. He was quite the gentleman -- very well-behaved -- and a very good mover. He was quite something to see in person, I thought. If I were breeding hunters, I wouldn't hesitate to use him. Nice horse. Those heaping ribbons don't lie!

Did Cynthia Williams show (or is showing) this guy?? If he is the one I'm thinking of, just beautiful, great mover and what a jump! He's on my wish list for my mare!

Wow! I guess its really true that hunter people don't care about pedigree!!
I can't find a single mention of his lineage on the whole site (althought it is not complete yet to be honnest).
Still, totally different from dressage or jumper sire that feature their pedigree quite prominently.
Interesting.
Nice looking stallion -from the picture at least.

True - his pedigree isn't on the site, at least not yet, but I found his pedigree in the stallion index of the COTH main website -

here is his pedigree, he is Bavarian, with a combination of older jumper and dressage blood featuring Ramiro, Lugano, Der Lowe, Gotthard, Pik Koenig, and Absatz.

She showed him as a pregreen and first year horse, Rob Bielefeld showed him this past year as a second year horse. I don't recall seeing him show, but I did see him do the warmup one week last winter and he went around very cute and quiet. I didn't find him to be a great mover though, just average or a bit above average.

His results are at USEF:

CBoylen - Can you elaborate on the movement? Does he have a big step & free shoulder but too much knee?

He is a nice looking guy

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that he isn't a good enough mover. He just didn't stand out as a great mover like people seemed to be saying. Not a trot that catches the eye. Or at least it didn't stand out to me. His horse report though doesn't seem to indicate that I underestimated him as far as movement. I liked him, regardless.

I'd say he does not have too much knee -- I wouldn't describe him as having noticeable knee action at all -- and has decent shoulder freedom. Look at the trot in hand picture on his website. Not a video, of course, but you see the suspension and the hindleg moving up under the horse nicely. I remember looking at him and being impressed, despite the fact that he doesn't have the big dressage movement I look for. It's a bit hard to explain his movement if hunter is what you're breeding for; I breed for dressage and feel quite out of the loop regarding hunter trends. I do remember thinking that if this is what hunter breeders are looking for these days, then things have really evolved from what I recall in the TB-centric hunter world of the 1980s. :)

He's a very nice horse!

Thanks for the input - just trying to gather info on the type of mare he is suited for w/regards to movement; it is obvious that he has a nice jump, based on photos from some shows he attended, not just the pretty photos on his website ;) It is nice to see one showed by both an ammy and a pro
